Exclamation HELP PLEASE.. Misfiring on 5,6,7,8..

Hey everyone,

I am having some issues with my 2007 E63 misfiring on one side only.. My cardied on me Monday night with a sputtering "like a water in the gasfeeling" and wouldn’t start after that.. The initial research I did mademe think it was the Crankshaft Sensor but after having it replaced didn’t solvethe issue. We then checked the coils as well as swapped the plugs with noluck.. They are now thinking it may be an electrical problem with a harness.

Has anyone had these kind of issues with their car? Any help would begreatly appreciated.

Thanks

Does the car run? Are you getting fuel and spark to those cylinders?

Runs but runs like crap.. Constantly bogging down and dying.. Once in a while it will just turn over and not start.. but when it does start it sounds horrible

was any sort of work performed on the vehicle prior to the misfire codes. I would check all connector on the ECU as a starting point.

do you have access to Star? if not, pull the code with a obd II reader from pepboys/autozone and see what kind of cel codes you are getting.

did you recently have some work or mod done to the car?

No mods done to it at all.. We were getting a code for the Camshaft sensor and when replaced its gone.. But we are still getting the misfires in 5,6,7,8.. Those are the only codes

Check the wire harness of the Cam sensor solenoid. I think there is a recall or warranty campaign on those.

Is the check engine light on, pull the cels with OBD11 reader. Are the plugs due for change, someone can chime in but if misfire is detected does the computer shut off the injector to stop fuel from entering the cyl.

cam sensor/circuit or possible timing issue? had similiar issue with customer cars...seems like it's not firing in the right order on both banks...do you have any other codes? would help. In my case one was ecu other was timing.

It is difficult to diagnose from a distance but would it be possible to install the old sensor into the other bank( are they the same) to see if it is a sensor issue or wiring trouble. When the car is running can you move the wiring around to see if that makes a difference, can you verify continuity of the cam sensor wiring on the affected bank. Lastly pull a spark plug on the affected bank reinstall the coil and see if it does spark when car is started, short time only. What codes do you get misfire on 5 6 7 8, random?
