Looking for paint for tail lights

There has been some discussion here on the great job that Jon's Tinted Tails has done on tail lights, but for the past month, his website has been down (actually off the web).

Does anyone know how to reach him

Is he still in Business?

If not, does anyone know of the what the paint is to squirt them (Don't want to do the cheap rattle can stuff)?

I see some DYS web videos, but none of them talk about what specific transparent paint is being used.

Thanks!

I was hoping you'd say 1980's as I just love that big hair and shoulder pads.....

I remember all the blacked out light covers back in 1989 for the Mustangs haha

Anyhow, if you really want to do it, our local painter uses automotive clear with a small amount of black mixed in, scuffs the lights with scotchbrite then shoots them.

Being I've blacked out all the chrome and and pretty much de-chromed the car, the tail lights are really pretty big and pretty bright (look at many of the other HiPo euro cars out there today and their tails are smaller and darker) and stick out as too bright so I'm looking for a way to darken them just a bit

you can also just get the overlays if you don't want to paint them.

They look great with what would be 30 or 35% on the whole tail light. more smoked than blacked out. As someone said, get yourself some automotive clear coat, mix in 10% black paint and apply

Yea, I'm not looking for the 90's blacked out look, just a bit to darken them up.

I'm squirting some panels this weekend, so I'll blacken some clear.

Xotic Black Candee is what I used, and sprayed some clear over it. Wet sand and buff then polish...looks slick. I got heavy handed on the second pass...so be careful. It's darker than I would prefer, but matches the look of my totally blacked out w211.

This is the best option, if you like that sort of thing. Use multiple light coats for best results.
