Oh ya, you are one of those that "used to have".... There are plenty that know me when I had mid 5 second Challenger, but I digress since I don't want to be one of those "used to" guys...
By the way, 707-556 = 151 not 200.
And, I don't see anyone here touting the Challenger as "the greatest car ever", just not "junk" as you say.

but I digress... I didnt mean to rain on your hell cat parade. I hope they do make it a successful car! I really do! Its nice seeing the "american" auto makers bring back the "muscle car" type stuff! And I hope it continues!

There are actually plenty. And Im on them as well. And it would be a G body site, not necessarily just a malibu site. Oh, Im on the TBSS forums as well. just so you dont feel like you missed one
And Im on here because I fell in love with e55's. Pretty simple to understand really... And there is a great possibility that there will be an e550 in the driveway this weekend. Can I then be accepted??

And FINALLY, pretty weak of you to pull 10.3's for a ZR-1 on drag radials when this is not the norm, much less no confirmation of if it is even stock. And this was probably in perfect weather conditions.
When the ZR-1 first came out there were more people running high 11's than low 11's.
The Challenger was run in July air, and not much experience.
All the magazines, which we can use for relative times to each other, show the ZR1 to run mid to sometimes 11.30's.

Actually no, Im not a "use to have guy" past time. The FASTEST thing I have ever owned is a TURD! 11.50's heads cam 4th gen. Full interior, full exhaust, street car, a/c car, all the "factory" stuff. And it wasnt fast then! That was 8 years ago!

I am not the "keeper of this forum", but you would still be in the wrong one.

I think I have to agree with the majority that if I can go over to a Dodge dealer, slap money on the table, drive down the street and run low 11's at the strip for under $100K... I'd be a happy camper lol.

I don't see why the ZR1 couldn't run high 10's with DR's either, as it has been done by a few different people in good conditions with stock Z06's with DR's.
Not saying this thing is a pig because it doesn't look like one down the track and it looks like an awesome car, however the Z06 and Zr1 can be driven to mid-high 10's with DR's just like the hellcat "apparently" can be stock. On a roll the ZR1 would pull it anyways.
Too sum it up I'd take a Zr1>Hellcat any day!
I'm not being brand biased here either as I would consider myself "a ford guy" for domestics.
ZR1:

Z06:Yes it can be done but the driver mod is EXTREMELY important it seems.

I guess we'll just have to wait until it comes out to see which is really faster in reality and not just on paper!

My only point to the quarter mile comparisons is that the Challenger has only VERY limited track time and in July temps where as the ZR1 has been out for several years and there is a lot of experience in running those now.
Perfect track conditions not only include surface prep, but DA, temps and humidity.
Once they come out, I would imagine that some people will be able to Challenger will be able to run some mid 10's on drag radials after they get some track time with it.

That Challenger ran that 10.85 on the stock 20"s w/drag tires... No less in July heat ya it's junk lol.. I predict this time will drop w/NO further mods when weather cools down in some good low or neg DA to.. 10.7-10.6x ya what a Sanford N' Sons pile... Add some mods and smaller lighter drag setup front & rear & this things in low 10's
Watch the video you clearly see the stock 20"s all round... And if *** Monkey Rollins, can click off 10.85 I'm certain there are more capable pilots out there.. These numbers are just the begining..
Edit: relevant info.. http://wot.motortrend.com/1407_2015_...eet_tires.html
And just silly citing best condition DA, weather, Zr1/Z06 drivers while more than likely NOT running on STOCK 20" wheels etc.. The Vette ways approx 3400-3500 lbs vs what 4000-4200 lb Wild-Kat (I'm changing Hell Cat nomenclature) It's pretty damn amazing what Dodge has done here..

Question , What is the rear end gear ratio , all these American Muscle cars are'n running a gear ration like our BENZ's 2.65 or 2.85 and their E55's running same ets as the HEll Cat with our top end gearing. Put a 3.08 or 3.23 gear in our cars and lets see what we run in the 1/4 .Their running 3 something and that makes a real big difference in the quarter . Hell E63 or CLS 63 TT are running the same e/t as this HEll CAT. I'd still rather have a GT 500 or ZL1 over this car and what is the price the Hellcat car? Oh nothing like the sound of that 5.8 double over head cam GT 500 doing a BIG *** burn out.

Wait, what have I been missing? When did a stock E63 or CLS63 run an 11.20?
I am not sure what gear is in it, but with the 8 speed auto, it won't be more than a 3.0x.

But your comment on the 8 speed auto brings me back to the argument that the zr1 people have had time with their cars, and you're correct that the hellcat isn't out yet for the owners to test, but honestly how hard is it to launch an automatic car? Similar to ours, rev it up to X number and let off the gas steering in a straight direction.
What I'm getting at is.. numbers will drop as you've said but I don't believe it will be because of X amount of years driving the cars, but I could be wrong and you could be right! I'm excited about seeing them on the street.

Well if you it's not a good comparison stock vs, non stock... What will the Challenger run with a tune?
You would be surprised how much difference you can run with an auto varying the launch rpms, etc.

Tuning and aftermarket options is where SRT and Dodge fail. No easy tuning for Gen IV and V Vipers. I hope they open it up moving forward as it would allow headers, pulley swap, ect.... Not sure on the previous generation Challangers what was available

Not years worth of variation and learning like you were saying with the vettes. From what I've heard about recent mopar's is that they're hard to crack the ECU's for tuning so a challenger with a tune won't be relevant right away anyways and we won't have to worry about the non stock vs non stock. We'll see though!

Tuning will just be a matter of time. Just like the new Jeep, it took nearly a year but they cracked them. Now guys are running boost, cams etc. It won't be long before the hell cat will be putting down some awesome numbers.

congrats, mopar. minus the limited production viper, your *** has been kicked for decades compared to the mustang and camaro. I guess better late than never? i have to admit, dodges do look good next to homes with wheels?
