What size you get, how long did they last you, what are your mods/power level and what are your impressions?

They lasted about 6000 on my s2000 with hard driving, 15-18 autos and two track days.. Amazing tire.. I think they might be overkill on the E though. The suspension sucks

Went through four sets or so in four years of DE's in the Spec E36 race car. Loved them, but couldn't imagine them on a heavy E55. What are you looking to get out of them? DE, drag racing or DD'ing? They wouldn't do well in any of these situations.

The daily driving and drag racing shock me because the GTR guys use these for both religiously and they are only a couple hundred pounds or so lighter than a E55.

Good point, but consider that most cars that run these have a LOT stiffer suspension, a la GTR, GT3, etc. Our soft air suspension and basic, (relatively speaking) non adjustable alignments are not too tire friendly.

True, I don't drive my car as much as some. I heard that their 265/30/19 is just as wide as some 275's.

Wouldn't put any other tire on my GTR, or the client GTR's we build. Great tires and unmatched traction but I seriously can't see them on the E55.

Noisy at all speeds or freeway for sure? I have been running Toyo Proxes T1Rs and currently Nitto invos. My SL only rolls May to maybe October and I am all about straight line traction. Been thinking R888s are the way to go, but of course you appreciate the pigish nature of the R230. Just might need to slap on a set for the rest of the summer. Still can't figure out why the fronts look damn near new when the backs are showing cord.

I have them on my E55. The boys at eurocharged seem to like them very much. I have not driven the car, but they said hooks up well with the, on the back.

I just ordered my second set of 315/30/20 R888 for the CLS

I loved them at first, not so much when worn. I got about 8,000 miles out of them before the traction both wet and dry went from fantastic to poor, and they currently have about 11k miles on them. I also agree with the above, they're noisy.

Noisy at all speeds.. But especially on frwy (most likely my set at 335/30 on 18x13 wheels is augmenting noise further) reminds me of my past lifted trucks on 37"s not AS loud but pretty annoying ie if stereo isn't on you'll want to turn it on.. Not digging that part BUT traction is supereme vs anything else besides my Hoosier setup..

I tried 345/25 BFG drag tires first, they absolutely sucked in traction (on the street even in summer weather) & any lateral movement (super soft sidewalls wern't meant for street lol) ie fast lane change would give the sphincter shutting preservation response w/violent tail wag...

Edit: If this was a daily driver I'd deff run something else period.. Tho like you I'm driving her every 2-3 wks at best, and the traction/handling more than makes up for the whhhiiiirrrrrrriiinnnggg noise on frwy.. Tho I bet it sounds beyond intimadating to other drivers in triple digits

Ran them on a second set of stock E55 wheels for track duty. Ran a 235/40/18F and a 265/35/18R. I have ran 6 full day events and they look like they have another event or two in them. At the time, I was right at around 550WHP in my car.

What can I say, even on a HEAVY 4 door family sedan, the tires were absolutely fantastic. After I got some heat in them, I was taking corners better than I ever could with any other tire before. I'm sure the coilovers helped too.

Overall...a 9 in my book. As others have mentioned, they have been getting progressively louder and louder as they wear.

How'd you like them compared to the Michelin PSS? I've been tracking the PSS 245/40 18 upfront and 285/35 18 in the rear. The setup is a little sloppy going into the corner but very strong on the way out. They tend to roll a fair amount and they start to chunk where the compound meets the sidewall. Thinking about trying a set of the R888's. Thoughts?

I use 305/35/18 almost bald 7000km (I drive in dyno mode) very noisy, very wide for there size, very stiff sidewall, hook ok on the street (better than any street tire) at the track best 60ft 1.90 switched to mt et street radial and got a 1.78. I will not buy another set I will try the nitto 555r for street and strip.

I have a friend who had a high HP E55 that ran 555rs on the street. He said handling could get a bit lively on wet pavement, but was willing to make the trade for straight line traction.

Would not use them for street use. Only SL rated and our cars want XL rated. I use Hankook RS-3 for the track.

If you are on the street go with the toyo RA1 instead of the r888,the Ra1 has better wet tractions and has a constent contact patch like the r888. I run them on my 600hp z32 and they dead hook in second.
