S600 = 4 x times the problems of a E55

buy mine it atleast has lower miles and upgrade turbos lol

2003 W211 E55, 2003 W220 S600
still dont feel as nimble and quick as the W211 but the tq will push you back in the seat.

brake boosting and 60 mph roll race as the best for this car.

Yes, because tanks drive better. An s-class is nothing like what a w211 is, it is made for a different kind of driving and enjoyment, you chest-thumping e55 guys wouldn't understand.

90k miles is indeed just broken in for that car. Those are very very good engines actually. Little maintenance things are expensive. But look at the msrp of what the car cost. Don't kid yourself, if you can't afford to maintain it, it's worthless.

What Benzslo said, "Don't kid yourself, if you can't afford to maintain it, it's worthless." That thing has more moving parts than practically any other rolling object ever made, none of them cheap. The guys that know it and can work on it affordably can be counted on the fingers on your left foot.

Insurance companies and credit agencies swap data so unless your insurance AND your credit record are immaculate, you have that to deal with as well.

Awesome car, yes, affordable, no. Figure 6K for a transmission rebuild, At least a grand for a brake job. It probably needs new shocks, so there's another grand.

IF you do get serious, get and independent pre-purchase inspection. for $200 or so, you should get a readout of all the codes and a list of expected service items.

If you still bring it home, I'd start by immediately changing every fluid - oil, transmission, brakes, coolant, differential, and swap out all the hoses while you're at it.

Owning both a 04 S600 and a 04 E55, both with bolt on's they are 2 completely different animals. That being said, the S600 is my nice car and the E55 is the daily beater. I find the S600 far more enjoyable to drive. Faster, more comfortable, more premium feeling due to all of the leather everywhere. It feels like it handles better with the abc over the airmatic, even though I'm sure it doesn't. That being said, a poorly maintained S600 will run you into the poor house. A $10k s600 could need $20k worth of work. E55's are usually cheaper and easier to live with.
