These are my C63 mufflers. LTs, HFC, X-pipe, stock resonator, C63 mufflers. I'm in love. I'd sell my stock mufflers if someone wants to play around with them. Local guys get first dibs since shipping would be a PITA.

Guys, what about a happy medium by only deleting one of the two mufflers? That way, it's not as loud. The question is, what side to do as that side will be louder.
This is my beastie: longtube custom headers, no cats, no resonators, x-pipe and gutted E55 mufflers. Very subdued when I want it to be quiet, but loud as f**k when I stomp on the gas.
If I had the money I would have a set of CLS55 mufflers on the back for a proper V8 sound. I am getting bored of the gutted mufflers and will go straight pipe soon. By the way, zero drone.
If I could go back in time, I'd keep the stock mufflers/resonator and copy what Craig did... electric cutouts. But since I didn't, the C63 mufflers do sound great at WOT.

+1 dont delete the mufflers.
Delete your cats and resonator. If you live where emissions standards are strict just get high flow cats and be done. Nice tone at WOT and quiet when you want it. Last thing you want is buzzing in your AMG on the highway. Does heads in for passengers!
That guy in the white C250 at the light next you later removed his troll AMG & Kompressor badges, sold his car and bought a minivan out of embarassment for ever flooring it on green. I dont know about you guys but down under everyone seems to launch on green on their busy morning commute to work. Elderly, females, males, dont matter, everyones in a rush to be caught by the next traffic light 100metres down the road. I had this lady punch her civic from green, the poor car was puffing plumes of blue smoke, then she slammed the brakes for the red traffic light 50metres ahead.

Unfortunately our cars are not N/A and will never sound as good no matter how much tinkering you do or how much money you throw at it. There is a guy in my neighborhood who has an E63 with gutted mufflers - nothing else - and that thing makes an SLS sound like a Prius. I would do headers, cat and res delete. Leave the OE exhaust and mufflers alone - they are damn good quality!
