Anybody retrofit distronic with an aftermarket black grill?

I'm in the process of blacking out all of the chrome on my car. The front grill is the last thing on the list. I've been doing some research and it seems that painting it flat black won't last long due to rock chips so i've decided to go aftermarket. My car has the distronic option and I've noticed that a lot of the vendors clearly state that their black grill is not for use with distronic.
Has anybody with distronic gone the route of an aftermarket black grill and retrofitted the distronic plate to it?

PS: I was thinking of purchasing this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2009-W2...f26435&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the help!

When I did my E63 conversion, I just used a regular grill without the distronic cover. It works fine without it.

I used Ebay Grill. The grill had no metal in it whatsoever. It worked fine. I also added an original OEM protective cover on the front of the distronic to protect it. It would be expensive to replace the radar unit if a small rock were to get between the grill louvres and damage the unit.

So you bought a grill not meant to work with the distronic front plate and it still works? Can you post a picture of your set up please?

Here's a pic of what the sensor looks like. It's just a plastic disc in front of the radiator. You can't see it through the grille

The distronic specific grill is more for protecting the distronic radar. It doesn't provide any electrical functionality.

That being said though I would get a grill made for distronic to prevent any chance of damage to the radar from debris or rocks hitting it. They are pretty expensive.
