New 6 Series Cabrio Photos
First 6 series coupes will be available 3/26/04.
The entire British allotment of 645's (1700 units) has been presold.
I still can't get over the in-your-face, squared off, non-fluid rear end design of the new 5, 6 and 7 series.
The 6 series will be released as a cabriolet (probably as a 2005 MY), and attached are some press photos.

Have tried several times.

What pisses me off is that Mercedes is trying to use that pathetic excuse for a "Coupe" with 4 real doors in the CLS concept. That car is in no way a Coupe. I'd like to see them do a Cabrio version of that car. What a joke. I think Bangle now works for Mercedes!

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Sorry but the new BMW 5 series on paper or in person is yuck! The trunk looks like it came from another car, the front looks like a Pontiac, and the interior is a pathetic excuse for a car of that price. Drive wise it should be nice, however, I've heard some bad things about the car's dynamic steering. BMW needs to do some soul searching and bring back the great styling they had in the last 5, 6, and 7 series automobiles.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or so the saying goes.

If MBZ thinks that upcoming stupid concept CLS Coupe with 4 real doors is going to beat the 6-Series Coupe and Convertible in sales they are sadly mistaken.

I think the BMW sales increase is due to Mini sales which didn't exist the previous year.

BMW does not add their Mini sales to their BMW sales. Here are the 2002 sales numbers:
MBZ 213,225
BMW 232,032
MINI 24,590
If they added BMW & Mini sales that would be more of an embarrassment and *** kicking to Mercedes with 256,622 units sold for 2002 versus Mercedes 213,225.
1999--751,000
2000--822,000
2001--880,000
2002--913,000
MINI sales:
2000--0
2001--25,000
2002--144,000
2003 projected=35,000
3.75% growth in BMW from 2001 to 2002
16.7% growth with MINI factored in.

Is that a typo? Why would 2003 sales of Mini drop so much? From 144k to only 35k worldwide.

The sales #'s are worldwide (per autointell), except the projected MINI sales # is USA...
The missing MINI info was:
USA--
2001=0
2002=25K
2003=35K (proj)
Worldwide-
2000=0
2001=25K
2002=144K
2003=151K (thru 10/03)
This note is from GermanCarFans:
Sales of BMW brand automobiles....in the first ten months of the year (2003), at 757,800 units, are only 1.7% below the corresponding figure from the previous year (771,090).
