caster/camber bolts ?

I was getting some premature wear on my front tires inside edge,, I bought 4 caster/camber bolts and took them to the local dealer to install and requested an alignment with minimum camber to prolong tires,,, they called me back and said they installed one bolt and it brought the car into spec and refused to install the remaining three claiming they would never be able to get the car with in spec if all four were installed --- has anyone ever heard of such a thing and why would they claim that ? my car is standard height always on sport 1 setting -- this just caught me on a bad day --

As far as I know, the MB bolts are not eccentric bolts that can be rotated to manipulate alignment settings. They are just installed to move the lower arms more inboard to create more positive camber. If they were able to hit spec with just one bolt and the car drives fine, I'd say they did the right thing.

The crash bolts have grooves cut in them that grab nubs in the inner bushings of the camber and caster arms in the front. You can then rotate these to affect alignment. The range of change is small, though.

I'd request a print-out of the alignment to make sure they didn't just get tired of installing the bolts.

Camber looks good,, 1.36/1.40 but the caster steering lock looks to be at its max 30' @ 10.23/10.53....... I am not sure what that steering lock reference on sheet means,, if someone can shed some light on that I would appreciate,,,,,

You mean camber is 1.36/1.40?

Post up the alignment print-out, if you can.

What they mean by steering lock is that caster is measured by sweeping the wheel full lock to one side and then full lock to the other.

What I'm not seeing on that sheet is a measurement of cross caster. The range for cross caster is 0.5° to -0.5°. Your cross caster is 0.3°. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

thanks -- it seems to track well but I was under the impression all 4 bolts would be used and could infinitely adjust (within reason) any of the corners -- thanks for confirming --
