In the market what do i look out for?

Hello everyone this is my first post. I am currently in the market for a E55. I have always had an interested in these vehicles. I have done very little reading, i do know one thing that the engines are very expensive (10k plus if i read correctly).

My plans for this vehicle is to add some wheels, a nice drop and an exhaust. What i am interested in knowing is what are known issues with these vehicles that i should be looking out for? And how reliable are these AMG's?

Thank you in advance.

They are pretty strong and dependable cars over all but most have a lot of years and mile son them now. So most age related parts are at risk of failure. Air suspension is one main area to look over and then do all your normal engine and feature test. On these cars, it can be worth have an indy check the car out and give you a report before you buy it.

they are pretty solid cars - great eng and bullet proof tranny - just make sure you whoever you buy from has kept the car up in terms of proper maintenance - even though the cars are now available from 15-25K remember you are still maintaing a 90K+ car so its not like keeping a Honda tuned up.

I am at 78K miles on my 2004 and it has been a beauty to own over the last 9 years - going to be so sad when i sell it - which will be sooner vs later - at least i the wagon to
keep a grin on my face

I read somewhere that when you start modding and change to the 180 pulley it causes either overheating issues or something related with fuel starvation that causes the #8 cylinder to die. Is this a common issue with non modified motors also or just when modding?

+1 get a PPI (Pre Paid Inspection) - they're about $200-250 from a MB dealership, that will tell you ALOT about the car you're thinking of purchasing...

overall, I've been pretty happy with my E55 over the past 2.5 years... and like it was said before, READ alot here - it's overwhelming, but it's a great resource

All I did was read almost all of your threads before even driving the AMG. The fact that you made it TOO ****ING easy for everyone with your parts list, and advice it is just too convenient. People who can't read these forums for **** really irritate me. Keep up the good work toddler .
