Need better cooling also.
The car will be a beast.
Do you think Killer Chiller or Meth in addition to the 550cc injectors will absolutely gaurantee this will not happen again? I'm really weary with keeping this setup as is. I am almost leaning towards just throwing a stock crank pulley on there in addition to leaving the 77mm there and calling it a day.

If you choose to run both pulleys I would be adding even more cooling than you have already indicated (killa chilla or meth). Also these cars really come alive with headers - shorties, mids or long - they all make a dramatic difference. In fact headers should be the first mod to the 55k motor. They let the beast breathe, add power, shift heat from the block and improve the exhaust note.

In your situation though I would probably recommend doing exactly what I did in the end - I went with the larger crank pulley (180 in my scenario) and swapped the supercharger pulley back to stock. Having said that though your pulley is 168 which is the ideal size to run with a smaller sc pulley (if you do decide to go that route).

Good luck whatever you decide - you REALLY don't wanna blow another motor. I just rebuilt mine plus did numerous other things at the same time for a total cost of $18,000 Aussie dollars. That hurt the hip pocket!
I am currently running mid length headers and I completely agree with you. That was actually my very first mod with upgrading cooling as my second. I really did attempt to approach everything correctly as I did plenty of research and understood many before me have learned very valuable and costly lessons, yourself included. Unfortunately that crank pulley was waiting in the darkness to sabotage my motor.

That said, I'm just trying to decide what to do right now in the short term and ultimately what direction to go in the long term. This 168mm crank pulley is not on my top list of favorite things at the moment and I'm inclined to just dump it on eBay and be done with it, however, if I could safely and confidently run the 168 with the 77 I would be very inclined to do so. I just have a very bad taste in my mouth at present and want to avoid repeating avoidable mistakes.

Lastly... $18k!! Damn! I really feel for you there. I was able to find a used M113K motor with only 29,658 miles on it and picked that up for $4k. My buddy owns a Merc shop and only charged me a little over $2k for the swap which included all new fluids, colder plugs, new engine mounts etc. All said and done this little mishap only cost me a little over $6k but it was $6k that could have been spent so much better. Thanks for your input, it really means a lot to me.

Install a wideband sensor so you can keep an eye on the engine.

THIS is a really excellent idea and something that not enough modders consider. It is definitely worth your while monitoring a select few stats with DashCommand or similar via your OBCD2 port (using a wi-fi or bluetooth dongle) but for the critical AFR's there is no substitute for a dedicated hardware solution.

I'm running 168 crank pulley that was on the car when I bought it and a 80 SC pulley. Im going to split the cooling debating front or trunk mount. Im leaning towards trunk mount. Definitely buy a wide band. The insurance it provides is worth every penny.
