82mm throttle body without adapter plate

I was thinking the same awhile back. But, I am using an adapter plate and no hiccup / P0106 after the new tune. But, my understanding is that this hiccup issue is now a thing of the past as all tuners now have the solution(?).

This place is a joke.
My 82mm setup, and custom y-pipe. I feel like even the stock/SL55 80mm y-pipe is a bit of a restriction as it tapers to a smaller I.D.

I have done a lot of testing with my accelerometer and a Dashdaq XL with Zeitronics wide band 02s, I'm currently running the BBK 90 mm TB but had the MB 82 mm TB,the stock air box seemed to be ok with 82mm TB but it is definitely restrictive with 90mm ,I'm running the spectre 5 inch air boxes because the 6 inch won't fit, unless i relocate my coils ,I have an SL55 , when I run NO air filters car runs faster, disclaimer,I'm no engineer or airflow expert,I'm just stating what has worked for me on my car,and I don't recommend driving around without air filters.I have a 4 inch T on the back of the TB which then goes to the spectre filters then to stock air inlets which I believe are equal to a 3 inch opening on both sides, this T only worked for me because there is a plate on the SL you can remove that is part of the firewall and there is a lot of fine tuning so to speak so it didn't rub on hood,I don't think E55 has that plate however I think the 6 inch filters may fit under the hood of the E55.just a little info FWIW,once you go to the 90mm TB I think you need to upgrade air intake volume IMO and from the back to back runs I made changing the different intake set ups and then trying it with no air filters,I even tried a set up pulling air from where the right hood vent is with no filter, but I couldn't hear myself think it was so loud from the supercharger and no filter lol

Anybody have the 90mm BBK tuned properly on their car yet? Any documented gains over the 82mm? I'm sure this will help the bigger Weistec blowers even more
I have a MB 82mm TB plus CNC adapter welded to sc inlet if anybody is interested. You will have to add whatever intake you want to it. I can even do a package deal with the whole sc assembly lol. I have too much stuff laying around.

Here's a few pics of a cleaner (IMO) way to install a larger throttle body. The adapter plates work great also, but this way gives up no clearance for a larger intake tube to the firewall like a plate will. You could also slice the inlet with a band saw and weld the adapter plate on if you already have it, but I'm just posting this to show another way. The aluminum I formed to the top was 7mmX16mmx120mm for those interested.
looking good S-B-A
did my old snout arrive?

I'm running the 90mm just fine. I did have to make my own cable using a Mopar TB plug kit and my stock cable. The problem is that it's a "thicker" TB than the 82mm and there just is not much room at all by the firewall. The OEM Y-pipe barely fits, and that is with using a lot of force. That is my current bottle neck and I'm kicking around ideas to get around it. Aside from that, I haven't noticed any driveability issues that I didn't have with the 82mm.

Interesting work guys. I like this thread.
Just a quick question, i read people use the S55 AMG Snout to avoid the adapter-plate welding thingy - it is bigger, right? If so, is my one from the CL55 also bigger?
Other than that, what Aluminum welding material you used? I can TIG weld Aluminium at home, but i need to know what material to use. Can anyone check with their welder? I thought about using either AlMg5 or AlSi5 - since they are universal more or less.
