82mm throttle body without adapter plate

Here's a few pics of a cleaner (IMO) way to install a larger throttle body. The adapter plates work great also, but this way gives up no clearance for a larger intake tube to the firewall like a plate will. You could also slice the inlet with a band saw and weld the adapter plate on if you already have it, but I'm just posting this to show another way. The aluminum I formed to the top was 7mmX16mmx120mm for those interested.

Sorry I got rolling and forgot to take pics of the port work and sanding. I dusted some primer on it, a little aluminum cast grey paint will have it looking almost factory once installed. Also I tapped and Heli-coiled some M6x10 steel threads into it so the bolts don't strip out.

That's nice. I'd like to pick up a spare inlet and do this for my 90mm.

That's similar to how I did mine. I just had a friend weld on more material then drilled and tapped for the bolt holes and opened the hole up to 85mm

Same.. My snout was "Added to" Then re-tapped by my buddy Bruce at TTM.

I never had the dreaded "Hiccup" and always wondered if it had anything to do with people running adapter plates. We know if it leak its an issue.

Other thing: You can better match bore the TB Denroll, you would probably pick up 5 HP just with that mod. You can get the snout from dealer, but if I remember, its around $280 (Get the 80mm Snout). I cant remember the model.. S55 maybe

I want to get another one and try it out. Mainly, I want the extra room from ditching the spacer so I can fit an actual Y-pipe.

It's on an SL won't fit your car ,at least the intake set up I made wont you'd have to cut into your firewall ,there's a plate on SL you can remove and it's still a has sell.im still fine tuning it ,lost of clearance issues there is a guy selling his SL (55 with same set up but a different intake that might work for you

Man, what a weewee-tease.

Check out how the TB is mated to the inlet in the second pic. Interesting.

The E engine bay is just so tight back there. I can *barely* fit the stock Y-pipe as it is. I've considered notching it out.

82 mm throttle body

I did mine in a similar way, machining, welding and shot peening. I found filling the voids inside increases the flow coefficient as much as 15%. More of a venturi.
