$14 scoops. Worth the money. They are not as polished as TTM's or Berti's scoops. They all do the same thing

I plan on redoing them with aluminum some day with a little nicer finish.

I am debating on a DIY paintjob or powdercoating the calipers. Not sure yet.

The "scoops" are from HD. I'll post some pictures later of how I made them. It's a pre-bent "scoop" from the wood section lol.

If you are leaning toward DIY, you might consider plasti dip in the aerosol can. I have not tried it but know a number of motorcycle nuts that love the stuff.

I dipped my wheels. I don't think it would last on calipers, they tend to get pretty hot

Thought the standard stuff was rated for like 300 F. Not high enough for calipers?

Normal city driving with heavy braking they can top 300*F. On the track or mountain driving under hard conditions I have hit my calipers/rotors at nearly 600-800*F after heavy braking with an IR gun.

Edit: Apperently they don't get as hot as I thought. Google shows that I am wrong...lol. Track use yes, but normal driving no.

Doesn't sound like a good option though either way.

either way I'm going to paint them, I'm just not sure if I'm going to powder coat or spray paint them. What I think I'm going to do tomorrow is take a piece of thin aluminum and paint that red and stick it onto the caliper with some tape. I'll post pictures.

I'm thinking of other colors as well!

Yes paint them, use Dupicolor High Temp or VHT after prepping the calipers and taping them off. Then use the VHT high Temp engine enamel clear for the final two coats. Make sure you use the vinyl stickers before the clear.

Lambo Orange would be a good choice due to all the grey you have. Could go with the new Duplicator Metal Cast Red, kinda a red anodized look and use black or white stickers. But you have all the red in your engine bay, normally I think people match that to their calipers or it looks ricey when the hood is open. But you could repaint that too.

Just some suggestions

G2 paint or nothing. Anything less means doing it again. My buddy Anthony would agree.

BIP scheduled for Tuesday for a pulley install, tune, and possibly looped rail. Thursday I go in to get the 295's mounted up for a bit more traction. Should be a good week.

Numerous members and posts covering caliper painting, vht high temp and duplicolor do just fine, meaning you only do it once. If normal vinyl stickers don't shrink then paint won't bubble either. Speaking from personal experience. Also ACG calipers are a Honda paint code and normal paint they don't mess up either. So paint them what you want and enjoy them .

Something went funky under the hood in the mountains today. Blew both belts and limped it as far as I could. Bailed somewhere in the mountains. Towing it to BIP tomorrow. Engine is fine, I think a pulley went.

Hate when that happens. I was doing some doughnuts this morning in my 63. First time I've had some fun in my car in a while.

Interesting Thanksgiving day...I ended up pushing the car to it's limits and found that my serpentine belt didn't enjoy that. I had to replace the serpentine belt and S/C belt and ghetto rig the intercooler bypass line (?) in the home depot parking lot in 30*F weather. It was quite fun to say the least

Heading to BIP in the morning for new pulley and back up to the mountains for some more tire smoking fun

My E55 has not had a good winter. I have had countless issues with it. She is curerntly on the side of the road once again. I am starting to think this isn't the car for me since every time I go to drive it and have a little fun it immediately breaks. I have owned it for 7 months now and still have not been able to truly get on the gas pedal and have some fun.

First issue was the serpentine belt flying off and leaving me stranded. Fixed it and had it towed due to coolant leaks.

Second issue was the crank pulley coming off and damaging the crank leaving me stranded. BIP was able to salvage it and install a stock crank. Those guys are awesome!

Third issue was today when the OEM tensioner decided to melt and leave me once again, stranded.

I am hoping all new pulleys, belts, relays, fuel pumps, etc, etc, etc, etc finally makes this car function properly. It's been nothing but a headache. I thought I would never say this, but the W211 E55 makes the M5 V10 look like a Toyota in terms of reliability.

This is soooooo disappointing to hear because it's the exact opposite experience I've had with my fairly modded '06.

My personal experience has been Long tubes + no cats + Mild pulley (168) +upgraded heat exchanger + a mild tune has been rock solid. The 6 years I've had this car I've had the same friend go through 2 V10 BMW's (first an M5 then an M6) and now a 2 TT M5's. He hates my car because of this.

I am only at 75K miles...and my airmatics are started to go. Other than that, it's been just the normal consumables and I drive it like I stole it everyday.

I do have a squeaky belt right now that bugs the crap out of me... may be a pulley or something... but it does go away after the car warms up. I'm going to have the B.I.P. guys look at it in Jan. sometime.

Hoping you get it squared away because I for one have been super impressed with this vehicle.

(My horror story was purchasing a 1995 RX-7 R1 when I was 25... over $40k in expenses in 2 1/2 years.... (3 motors)).

My father has a bone stock never driven hard E55 that runs like a champ. Never broken down. That is the reason I purchased the E. I plan on leaving it at BIP with an open line of credit for them to go through it I give this car one last chance before it gets traded in on something else.

I hope I can continue to build it. It's a blast to drive but everytime I floor it I get stranded.
