I recently took a wild turn with my car obsession. I have owned a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 for the past 14 years and loved it. I had built it for expeditions, rock crawling, and a chase truck in the off-road racing seen. I truly loved the off-road world. It was nice having a vehicle that you could truly "go anywhere" with...
However a few weeks ago I started to get the itch to go a bit faster, a little more civilized, and instead of only being able to enjoy the "go anywhere" just a few times a year...I figured I could purchase something that I could enjoy all the time.
I came across a beautiful 2004 E55 with a few modifications and instantly fell in love with it. Here we go...
Please let me know if you decide to sell the CLS55 wheels when you go HRE. I'm local and can pickup.
I will be sending you a PM shortly.

Craig,
PM me your phone #. I would like to talk with you regarding a few things about this car. Maybe you can answer them and save another thread from being created.

Yup. I use the same username on all the forums. We did chat a few times. I miss my Land Cruiser, but the E55 is just a joy to drive.
I spent a little time today and improved the headlights. The PO installed E63 headlights and I was never happy with the output. I picked up projectors, ballasts, and bulbs from TRS (I worked there for a few years). I headed up to my shop and got to work. The new projectors have a wider beam pattern, sharper cuttoff, and a much better high beam. I was having "low beam out" warnings due to the CAN-BUS cancelers. I went into STAR and reprogrammed it to accept and remove the error lights.
Replaced the crummy projectors with a pair of bi-xenon Evo-XR with clear lens, paired with 35W DSP Ballasts, and Osram 66240CBI's.
BimmerDawg aligned my car this week and so far it handles like it should. The camber, toe, and caster were all out of whack and wearing the inside 1" of the tire only. I need to pick up two new Pilot Super Sports unfortunately.
I just encountered my first issue with my E55. When it's hot (after driving for a while), I shut it off. Go inside, BS around and head back out. Key in the ignition, BAT>ACC>IGN and nothing. Then the starter will "bump" the engine a few times, then finally start normaly. No CEL, pending codes, or anything strange while driving. Only during hot starts. Cold starts are unaffected.
I am thinking starter motor or relay/wiring. Once the starter engages it cranks normally. Heat does not effect the starting procedure once the starter engages. Batteries are 6 months old and have no LV codes.
Any thoughts? I am uploading a video to YouTube and should link it on this post soon.

Maybe a bad crank shaft positioning sensor (CPS) issue although your symptoms are not identical. The more classic CPS failure almost always happens on a restart attempt after driving in hot weather and the engine is still hot. The engine will crank until time out with no attempts to even fire. After the engine cools off, engine starts normal.
I got my air boxes back in today. I took them out to repaint them and fix the bubbling paint. I was hung up on colors but decided gloss black would work the best. Turned out pretty good for $7
So I had a crapmatic blowout the other day and ended up having to overnight a new shock for the front right. Replacement is about as easy as it can get. 45 minutes start-finish with absolutely no idea how to remove it. I just dove in with a beer and came out with a functioning car .
I can't wait to do coil overs and stiffen the handling up. Putting it on the race track this weekend to see what she can do.
If anybody has any questions on removing the front AirMatic Shock please feel free to answer. MB and AMG really designed these cars to be workshop friendly.
