I wanted a new key about two years ago, and I had to go to the dealer for it.
I thought I spent closer to $250? You'll need the registration and some ID, to have the key programmed.
It helps if you know someone at the dealership, otherwise you'll pay retail and it hurts.

$250 isn't bad at all for one of these keys. I once HAD to get my w215 a new key. cost ~380....unfortunately, i don't know anyone @ the dealerships.

I only had one key and it was starting to get messed up so I ordered one from the dealership for $355. I always thought that those old-style keys were discontinued so everyone automatically got the new-style ones. Since my VIN was used for the order, they ended up sending my the black one. Was there something special that I should have told them?
By the way, my key did not require any additional programming upon arriving at the dealership. They did originally tell me that I would have to pay an additional amount to have it programmed but when they asked me to try it first, it was already working.

It depends if you have keyless go or not. Last I checked (about a year ago) for my 04 s with keyless go they were still all black. Non keyless to we're chrome.

I've got keyless, and chrome. There is a completely new style of key that they are using with the newest cars that wont work with the old KeylessGo system.

I have Keyless Go also. I guess I should have specified at the time I ordered. I just assumed that I would get a chrome one.
