This place is a joke.
You can buy new keys for your car from the dealer only.

Sold - 05' E55
I wanted a new key about two years ago, and I had to go to the dealer for it.
I thought I spent closer to $250? You'll need the registration and some ID, to have the key programmed.
It helps if you know someone at the dealership, otherwise you'll pay retail and it hurts.

$250 isn't bad at all for one of these keys. I once HAD to get my w215 a new key. cost ~380....unfortunately, i don't know anyone @ the dealerships.

Which key do you have and which key do you want? Are you sure your chip wont just slide into a new case?

I have the typical laser key with the red panic on the tip.... I want the chrome one that found on the newer models..... Never tried or thought of that....

I only had one key and it was starting to get messed up so I ordered one from the dealership for $355. I always thought that those old-style keys were discontinued so everyone automatically got the new-style ones. Since my VIN was used for the order, they ended up sending my the black one. Was there something special that I should have told them?

By the way, my key did not require any additional programming upon arriving at the dealership. They did originally tell me that I would have to pay an additional amount to have it programmed but when they asked me to try it first, it was already working.

I thought about doing that, but the circuit boards are different shapes. I don't know if there is a way to modify it to work, but it didn't look like it.

you can swap the guts from the older keys, into certain versions of the chrome keys. Search and you'll find more info.

IIRC, when I bought my car it only had one key (old, black style), and I told them I wanted the car with the second key thrown in and they agreed. I made sure to tell the saleswoman I wanted the new style chrome key, and that's what I got.

It depends if you have keyless go or not. Last I checked (about a year ago) for my 04 s with keyless go they were still all black. Non keyless to we're chrome.

I've got keyless, and chrome. There is a completely new style of key that they are using with the newest cars that wont work with the old KeylessGo system.

I have Keyless Go also. I guess I should have specified at the time I ordered. I just assumed that I would get a chrome one.

I guess I will have to do a little more research. It would be nice to have the new one. It looks a lot nicer.
