E63 Rotors - blanchard grinding?

I have about 66K on my P030 E63. Bought it CPO at 29K with new brakes/rotors. Been reading various thoughts on changing rotors every time the pads are changed, doing nothing to the rotors (and associated potential issues), etc.

Can't believe how expensive a rotor is... don't want to be cheap but I"m thinking they should be able to be potentially ground. I've always heard grinding is better than single point turning. It looks like they are a 2 piece rotor so all the more reason that they could be ground...

Has anyone had experience with this? What is the minimum width of a rotor? Anyone know a shop in Nor Cal that does blanchard grinding on rotors? Hate to spend $1400+ for 2 rotors through here or even more at a dealer!

Thanks-

Look into gyrodisc or racing brake. Much better (and cheaper) options than oem. Coming from a dealer tech. Oem rotors are not even directional. I believe someone was trying to start a group buy on gyrodisc rotors. Search evosport rotor hats. I believe it was in that thread.

My humble opinion (based upon most OEMs) is to just change pads and never turn the rotors. IIRC, one can generally get two pad changes for every set of rotors.

When you decide to replace the rotors, go to RacingBrake.com and buy their two piece. Then, going forward, you only have to replace the rings and reuse the hats. I am very happy with their rotors and am using their racing pads. While it makes a little noise every now and then, they stop on a dime. Also, their rotors come with new pads.

Hello VinceB,
and thank you all for your comments!

As mentioned we offer light weight two piece rotors for your E63 W211,

Going with us will allow you to save a fraction of the cost in the long run buy simply purchasing our rings when its time to replace. We send you all the hardware needed along with instructions to bolt on the new rings to your old RB hat. VERY straight forward.
