Entertain me...

Can I run a H/E with the Killer Chiller? So you start with below ambient temps but when you go full throttle your ac (kc) shuts off right? So you could just have your H/E take over? Have I got that right?

The way I understand it, the killer chiller and the HE are fighting each other most of the time, because while the KC is cooling massively, the HE is constantly bringing the temps to ambient.

No HE, it's counter productive. With KC you will have below amb temps with a reserve of a cold water if you have a tank

Actually this really is not correct. It really depends on the SC water temperature and ambient temperature.

Since the KC turns off under WOT, I think having a heat exchanger post SC (meaning after the cold water has been heated by the SC) would help during WOT runs, but it really would depend on the ambient temperatures and the length of the WOT runs.

Yes it is true that having a heat exchanger in the system, while not under WOT, will likely decrease the system efficiency (once water temp is below ambient).

So it is not correct, but in the end, it is correct??

That is why a tank is needed. I found this out the hard way, I initially installed the KC without a tank and I was good at cruising but once I went wot, iat went high and stayed high until sometimes 5 min later when they slowly came down, with a tank there's a reserve of cold water so when you go wot the ac shuts off but you will still be flowing cold water from the tank. It's like having ice in a tank.

No. Please re-read. If you are driving in cooler weather, with ambient temperatures in the 50 - 70 range, the heat exchanger post SC and pre KC will definitely help if you do nice long WOT runs.

And yes Hulk is 100% correct, you need at least a 3 - 5 gallon dedicated system. Obviously a 100+ gallon system would be great if water did not weigh anything, but it does ....

GLWS.

More water you have longer it takes to cool, Especially after a hard run. We all know how great our ac system is lol

For regular driving, a HE doesn't help, it's constantly fighting the KC, and honestly, for quick WOT runs, meth is better for cooling IAT's.

For extended WOT runs, a trunk tank would be best.

Is that the consensus?

I have the KC, 7gallon trunk tank and HE. In summer, I bypass my HE bc it is actually heating up the water chilled by the KC. Without the HE and just the KC, my IATs are 13 degrees cooler.

I have a 3-way switch in the car which enables me to switch amongst !) HE only, 2) HE and KC and 3) KC only.

On my set up, option 2) works best both with casual driving and when doing WOT runs.

Nice. You by chance have picks of your set up? I have a manual switch under the car.

As for IATs, then I guess it depends on car to car. My IATs increased/higher with the HE in the loop, just as Joe (KC owner, I think that was) and 2 other E55 owners with KC and HE told me they would.

I don't have pics currently. I'll take a few when I get a chance, though I'm not even sure where the bypass valve is situated. The 3-way switch is concealed at the back of the ash tray - it's easily accessible.

I suspect the KC/HE combination works better on my application because with the clutch-less Weistec s/c, cruising IATs (and water temps) are invariably higher than ambient both with the KC on and (more so) with it off.

I sent him a PM asking for a deal shipped to Phili, and he came back with $730.
So I requested that perhaps I was more interested in the one sprinkled with fairy dust, as it was already $700 shipped, and lets just say the response, was not quite expected.

Its all good, was trying to help a fellow member, will just get one brand new in box absolute latest design with full warranty and support.
