evosport tuned car - California - where to go for smog test?
Evosport is out of business and I can't find anyone who worked there. I need a smog test for registration renewal and I don't know where to go. Any pointers ? I'm in California. Thanks!!

Where are you located? I think the laws have changed. I took my car to be smog'd two weeks ago and I rolled in they let it run and ten minutes later I was paying and out the door of a star station

If you have no visible mods on the vehicle and it does not sound like it's got a big 'ole v8 cam you should be good. New CA smog laws is visual inspection (no cats, headers, etc.) and then a check of the obd2 readiness monitors. If you have pending/hard codes your car will fail, and also make sure your readiness monitors are complete otherwise that's an automatic failure also. Where in CA? Toadsters been to my bros place here in Sacramento.

Hey guys, the car passes smog but not the visual inspection, because the engine cover is painted, has an aftermarket logo on it, and the headers have been changed. The guy I went to in west lake village / calabasas area said he can't pass me after having gone through the engine bay with a flashlight looking for CARB stickers... You guys have a place you go to? I don't mind driving 100 miles, if that's what it takes ! Thanks!

So you failed visual inspection partially because of a painted engine cover!! WTF!! Gotta love Cali..

What kind of headers? Long tube? That will hard to pass in CA.

This year CA dropped the sniffer test since most 'modded' cars were actually well below legal limits. Instead they need to fail more vehicle so they added extra stringent laws for modified parts. The ECU checks were always in place but at this point in time they are unable to view if you have a tune or not.
