New owner 2009 e63 amg.
Wanted one for awhile, ever since I sold my e39 m5. 66k for miles. Gonna need brakes soon. Ordered up the Racine Brake fronts and a bunch of tune-up parts. Will be driving her home to Socal from Seattle in a couple of days. Oh, picked up a new radar Detector too! Gonna need it with this thing......

Congrats on the purchase!!!
dealership told me i needed brakes like 5K miles ago and the sensor light still hasn't gone on - drive them until they are at the minimum - as they are not cheap to replace - damn floating rotors
i too will be going with Racing Brakes when i am finally ready.
rembmer radar doesn't do sh*t against laser -

Thanks for the welcome guys! I'll get some pics up when I get her home. Will be doing Seattle to Reno the first night and then home from there the next night. I'll be cutting over to Reno from Redding through the hills and that's some good driving! Not much laser activity at night....can't wait!

Damn that was fun!
Great drive, AWESOME car! Had a blast, no issues, no tickets! Now for FULL fluid flush, front brakes and some various sensors. No plans to mod, just start an oldschool maint. schedule and use the car as a GT rig.

It seriously seems like everyone on this board came from an E39... i know like 15 w211 amg guys who had e39s before, Cant blame them, Prob one of the sexiest and most balanced cars ever.

The e39 checked all of the boxes for a performance sedan. The e39 M5 had torque everywhere, something the e60 M5 didn't. No interest in turbo cars so the e63 AMG just felt right to me. Big switch for me as I have been driving BMWs for the last 17 years or so. I still have my Z4MR as my canyon carver and it will most likely be my last BMW unless I find the perfect 2002.
On another note, the e63 passed CA smog with no issues today. I was a tad worried something might pop up but she checked out just fine. Visual, and OBD check only now.
I did smell gas when I filled up today and my gas gauge went away for a bit so I guess I'll be addressing the sender issue soon. Has anyone engineered a lasting fix for this?

5K Update!
I've put a little over 5000 miles on the car so far and all is good! Seattle to Montana and back when I just picked her up. Seattle to Temecula, CA(just NE of San Diego) by way of Reno and some great back roads. And Temecula to Vegas, Reno and home again. No tickets, no codes, good times.
Wife loves the car as long as I keep it under 100 and don't slingshot it through traffic.
Just changed the engine and diff. oil the other day and I had the trans. serviced as well as brake fluid and coolant flushed last week at All German Auto in Escondido, CA who gave the car a big thumbs up. Very, very clean they said! I also started changing out some of main engine sensors. All four cam position sensors, primary 02 sensors, ROW air boxes with new MAFS and EC tune. Keeps getting better!!!
