Today when I was driving, I made a right turn (semi-sharp) into a parking lot. I stopped and I couldn't turn the wheel left or right anymore. It was completely locked and a red car symbol showed up on my dashboard. Anyone know the cause of this?
1) Was the turn too sharp and the system shutdown automatically?
2) Is it because my power steering fluid is low? If so, how can I check?
3) There is a red cap on my engine and I don't know what that is. Is it my engine oil or is it power steering oil. Can anyone look and elaborate please.
nothing to do with any fluid levels.. The red cap is a cover to the oilsticktube as there isnt an oilstick on these cars. This didnt go away after restarting, or did it even start anymore? Sounds like something related to the antitheft system is acticvated and its locked the car down
You should get it hooked to star and see whats the code its giving! Could be numerous things!

After turning the car off then on, it worked. Just wanted to know why it locked... Also from the pictures does it seem like my oil level is a bit low?
Either check your oil using the proper Mercedes dipstick or use the menu on the dash to check it electronically. Do not add any oil until you properly check it. That red cap is only a cover. Your dipstick goes into the hole that the red cap covers. I hope this helps.
