Hey i just picked up a w211 2003 e55 amg and it came with audio 50 and harman kardon sound system/ 6 cd changer / telephone intregation , i would like to ask how i would be able to install aux ?

The car came with ipod integration installed from the previous owner as well.

Do i have to upgrade to comand NTG1?

Yes just get the command head unit and pick up the aux cable, I put mine in the ash tray

Navigation would not be added by just adding the head unit. You have to buy the navi module as well that goes in the trunk, its not cheap either along with a current map dvd. It can also get much more complicated depending if car is prewired for nav or not, some 03's were not. I didn't add it when I updated mine. Got the head unit and aux cable and was happy with that. Most will tell you the nav system isn't worth it anyway.

How was the ipod integration done? Where are you plugging the ipod into? Do your playlists come up on the instrument cluster data screen? I'm just using the aux in for my ipod which the audio 50 didn't allow. If you already have ipod integration somehow with the audio 50 whats the need for an aux in?

I do not own an apple products , i guess the cheaper way would be to buy a nano or whatever they call it. Aux allows more flexibility towards music devices or phones i guess.

I havent tried it , maybe ill report back once ive tried with a ipod or some sort.

the ipod integration isnt done with aux , its done with the charger.

If the ipod intergration includes sound and not just charging, then you can try a ipod (30 pin female) to aux cable. They are dirt cheap and may or may not work. But if the intergration just plugs into the cigarette lighter port then its only going to charge.

Im not sure where the cable leads but the ipod holder says dension on it and its not plugged into the cig lighter.
