Raced a built WS6, paranoid

Hey guys, in my small little town there is not a ton of competition. I had a race with a 1996 WS6 LT1 with a 383 Stroker, fully built motor with Heads, Aggressive Cam, Full bolt-ons and tune. We did 2 digs and 2 30mph rolls. I won the races but it was very very close, I mean after the initial hit I would pull only very slightly and when he got right up to the top of his power band just before shifting he would slightly pull on me, or so it seemed, (I have the video at home I will post it soon) The thing is I thought I would pull a lot harder. His car is anywhere from 370-420WHP from what he says. Its a 6MT car. My mods are 010 pump (used to have s/c shut off, not anymore), 84mm S/C pulley and EC tune, which after installing the pulley loading the tune, I really did not notice much of a difference. Anyhow, I am being a hypochondriac because I only trapped 110 at the 1/4 mile at 2500ft elevation, and I want to be sure my car is in top shape before adding more mods. Thoughts?

You are making about 40-50 more hp than what he said and sounds like he is really not sure of his real RWHP. I built LT1 with heads and cam, bolt ons and M6 can make 420 rwhp. He also has a gear advanatages on you from a roll with the m6 but if you both could launch and not spin from a dig, you would pull much harder. 2500 elevation is real high and a power buster. Last, the Lt1 is a lot lighter than your car. So I would say it sounds like your car is running up to par, based on the info supplied.

I appreciate the input, I will be able to get the video up after work today if you are interested in seeing it. He has had the reputation of having the "fastest car in town" for a while now, granted I live in a small town of 60,000 people. We both spun pretty bad from a dig, and it seems every time I spin the trans shifts to 2nd way too early. I could tell he had a massive gear advantage, seems he has 2 gears for every one of mine. I think its time for headers.

At that rwhp, they can trap between 116 and 118mph so it will be close

Ecotic-metal knows is LT1's for sure, so what he as to say about this is on par.

An average E55 with your mods will definitely trap more than 110, but I'm not sure how the altitude should affect your trap.

This place is a joke.
You're not going to see much with your mods until you do headers. They should be your first mod before any pulley changes. A stock E55 is a bit of a dog at higher RPMs and highway speeds without headers. It was a fast stock car 10 years ago. Not so much any more. I can't believe the difference now when I drive a stock E55 vs mine. It feels like it's not running right!

I am waiting to see what these mid length headers that EC has advertised in their October sale look like but they have no pictures or info on them. I guess I might go kleeman if they don't hurry it up.

By no means is the E55 that quick anymore. Heavily modified dont get me wrong, they will outrun most cars on the road but by no means will you destroy alot of cars so dont get your hopes up unless your heavily modified. I know of fords in australia 4Litre single turbos running 10seconds or less on a 20k budget for a car that costs less than 30kAUD. We dont drive these cars for all out performance though. Its the luxuries that come with them that caught my eye. You cant compare a ford to an amg. There is no comparison, but if you want pure street brawler you bought the wrong car

You have a pulley and tune and you completely beat a fully modded car that weighs almost 600 lbs less than you and you are worried?
Sounds like you just want to show us how bad *** your car is moreso than paranoia

You should be happy that you beat a built, stroked LS1.

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that I won, I just thought his car was a 110-112 trap car and mine should be a 118+ trap car and I should have pulled harder. Sounds like I underestimated his car is what really happened. RAWE55, I have to disagree, I think even today the E55 is a fast car.
