Experts , Long time E55 modders come in!! Need your 2 cents

Hi guys,

long story short... went out today and heard my car making weird noise. drove home and found these

Experts , Long time E55 modders come in!! Need your 2 cents-20141027_210333_resized_zpsd2ed4cfd.jpg

Experts , Long time E55 modders come in!! Need your 2 cents-20141027_210712_resized_zps3fd8f6eb.jpg

so I guess my beast shredded some belts again ... if you look at the one of the idler pully theres a chunck out of it, but I don't think thats the main issue.

I shredded 2 belts in 2 years. I belive theres a play (wobble) in my 180mm EC CP..and obviously im not going to take that out... already paid for it.

so my questions are .....

1.should I just get the belts and call it a day ?

2. A 5 piece idler pulley set plus belt wrap ? <-- cost a lot of $ and not sure if it will help with the shredding at all. I belive 5 idlers are 499usd and bwk is about the same... I mean thats a lot of $ for no Hp gains..

3. not sure if EC Toronto carry all these in stock neither and I don't want to pay premium, I will buy it from where ever is cheaper since its all the same...

so tell me what you guys think I should do... im not cheap but I value my dallor. should I just buy idler kit n bwk from shardul then go install at ec?

or without waiting for shipping n just walk into ec and pay up...

anyway thanks for your help I know im all over the places ..

new 360forged spec 5ive teaser plus verstiner spoiler ! better pix coming after I fix this bs

`Just my 2 cent, 1.. I would start by replace the idler from shardul because in the picture its damage, and our cars are known to have bad idler pulley. 2.. After that check to see if the 180 pulley as any wobble to it and is it true. (turns true) check the bolt, belt alignment ect. That were I would start. Things you can do yourself. I do like your old wheels set up one of my favorites Vossen CV3. Have them on my SRT 300 and just pick up a set for the E55.

I would start by sending me your wheels asap. Once I receive them, we can chat about your bad photography skills and what look like twigs you found under your hood.

I see you have climbed the 55 ladder pretty quick since your CLK days. 2 belts isn't bad. My CL55 throws belts from time to time, it did that especially when the double stacked idler pulley was damaged like yours. Your SC belt also looks torn. BTW down for a quick run with my 600?

looks like a wire exposed or nicked just behind the pic with the chunk out of the pulley. Check for damage around that area, before upgrading all your idlers.

Replace the double idler (ASP or OEM) and belt. If you want OEM I can look around the garage and probably find you one. Don't worry about BWK unless you just want to throw away money. Inspect crank pulley for wobble. I understand you already paid for it but if it's wobbling that's an early sign of it falling off and damaging your crank snout. Then you are talking big money.

I had the exact same damage on my pulley.. that chunk out of the plastic.. I too was shredding belts.. i did not know about the damage until i bought a belt wrap kit and took things apart.. but in hindsight, i have to believe that was a root cause.. so echoing whats been stated.. get the replacement asap..

also, there are gains with the BWK..no slippage means no loss of boost which means consistent power all the way up...I can tell you categorically that it made a significant difference for me.. and all I had for mods are a crank and ecu tune and filters

Don't drive around with idlers like that man, make sure everything is good then get new idlers whether stock or asp.

Wobble@ idle is vibration at 6K rpm, harmonically speaking.

^ I know man ...but I don't want to buy a new cp then uninstall old one then re-install and maybe a retune.... that's too much $ for this at the moment.

Is it just my eyes or is there also a piece missing between the two pulleys this would have caused the initial fray, and also an imbalance. The pulley must be an aftermarket oversize unit I take it. What was the total run out on the CP or was it just an eye check. With a piece missing on the shoulder of both sides expect to be changing that belt quite often.
A small Dremel grinder may help to remove the sharp edge of the missing piece, smooth transition may get you longer belt life.
