Pulley and belt failure on '07 E63

My '07 suddenly lost power steering wednesday night just on my way home. I managed to drive to my parking lot and when I look under the bonnet ...

Did that already happened to someone ?
Looks like the pulley A156 202 06 13 died and damaged the belt.

Do you know someone making those pulley in Alu instead of plastic ?

You can contact member Shardul he as pulleys for the 55 that replace the plastic one with metal one with better bearing. He maybe able to help you with this.

Weistec has a 5 pulley Billet aluminum set for M156 for 299, this is a must have for any 63 out there, did both cars years ago and no more Plastic BS from MB.
For Anyone out there in denial try to steer a 2 ton rhino when that belt falls off, next to impossible. First mod I did on both cars and by far the best. No cel either
By the way that was the whirling noise you heard for the last 1000 miles or so, you did not have a supercharger growin under the hood.

All pulleys required are in the kit, the tensioner pulley also, minus the tensioner itself. Some later cars had an extra idler pulley between the CP and the AC, my 07 did not so I have and extra, what is great about these is that you can remove the bearing if it ever gets noisy. The time wasted here you could have ordered them already, great deal also at 299.00. Plastic MB crap, amazed at how they get away with poor engineering on a 7 thousand rpm motor.
Bearing at about 25-30K miles will be prone to failure, heats up and melts the pulley with sometimes little advance notice unless you have an ear for the sound of you engine. Posted this before, must have for a M156 motor.
Check out their website Weistec Engineering.

No hurry, I have plenty of time.

To close the topic, I did purchase the pulley kit from Shardul (which contain one pulley too much by the way)

Install is pretty simple (one bolt just needs to be a bit shaved to fit the cover) but space is limited. I did not remove the fan and worked with my sleeves up ... until I was totally frozen (I worked outside and it's winter here in France).
Everything was finished except the belt was not perfectly centered on one of the pulley, so I did put my arm again to adjust the belt and my sleeve got stuck in the small platic piece of the thermostat ...

... and broke it

So I had to replace also the thermostat

The end result looks like that

Good job, you should send those pictures to MB to show them what a **** poor job they did at engineering a plastic pulley on a 7 thousand rpm motor.
Other owners would be wise to change them out before failure occurs and for sure it will.
