What do you think of these wheels for the w211 E55 ?

I think I'm going to pick there rims up tomorrow. They are HRE 547R's 19 x 8.5 and 19 x 9.5 with 35mm offset. Less than 1 year old with no rash or bends. The tires are Yokohama AVS 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 with about 60% tread left. Price is not negotiable at $2500. What do you think of these for my car and also the price? Thanks. I need your opinions soon because I need to decide by Sunday morning.

good deal

I think that's a very good price. If you don't want them and they can fit a W209, I may want them.

I have a friend that bought the 543Rs (w/ tires) for $6,500 new.

Be sure to send us pics if you put them on your car.

Those wheels are great.. and at a price you can't beat.

Did they come off of a mercedes? Make sure the offset / bolt pattern is correct.

2000 W210 E55->2003 R230 SL500->2004 W211 E55->2007 997TT+2007 E63->2010 GLK350->2012 E550 4matic
I guess the only trade off will be the ride and the potential rattles, if any?

They'll look great. That's about what I paid from my snow tire/wheel combo (w/ AMG wheels).

I was really thinking about getting a set of these in 18 inch. I think they will look great. I have a set of 547's on my vette now. They definitely look alot better on the car than in pics. The price is very good too. I paid 4k for my vette wheels used. I was figuring 6k for the E55 wheels and tires new and that's 18's. The only thing is that these are not going to be your track tires right?

Correct. The factory wheels will be the race wheels. I already have 265's BFG gforce race compuond tires for the rear and will probably go with Kumho race tires for the front. The gforce R1's are discontinued and I was able to come up with 2 old stock for 100 dollars each.

Hey Mike, any interest in upgrading brake pads?

They are off a MB and the offsets should work without rubbing. The center hole was enlarged slightly to fit a MB center cap and the HRE caps no longer fit.

The 235 fronts will cop a hiding on the W211 E55, it also may be worth checking the load rating of these tyres as I don't think they are suitable. If you are using the car on a track, these issues, which some may quibble as being not essential for street cruising can be a major issue on the track. Not to mention that your insurance will be void if a tyre fails, as the load rating of the tyres you have fitted is being grossly exceeded by the E55.
IMO buy them if the wheels are worth the total price but the tyres need to be replaced with something suitable for the car.

The tires will probably last less than a year anyway. I don't plan on using them at the track.

Chill,
Do yourself a favor and don't mix race tires. The money saved from 2 tires won't even come close to the problems faced when going off track.

I am not sure. As you know I have the Vette for my track car and, even though I plan to continue tracking the E55, obviously it won't see the duration yours will. If I could change the pads the night before I would buy a set and do that just for good measure, but I understand you might not be able to change them yourself. I am hesitant to run different pads on the street. the system is expecting a certain amount of bite from the pads and if you change that I wonder how it will affect the drivability.

In other words, If it turns out I can change the pads myself, I am in for a set of race compound. If not, I would want to see how the other compounds affect drivability.

Well, I wasn't looking to get 19" wheels, but I couldn't resist these amazing rims. Seems like the majority of those with 19" rims love them. Fortunately the roads around here are smooth with no potholes. Anyway, the HRE's have found a new home in my garage for now. Unfortunately the previous owner had the centers enlarged to fit the factory MB centercaps and the HRE caps no longer fit. I'm going to use the brushed finish MB caps that came on the factory wheels.

If the pics don't come up, check these links 1 2

2002 MB E55 AMG
HREs

I know what you mean about the 547R's - I think they're the best-looking wheel that HRE makes. Good luck with them!

Chill, it's been a couple days. Get on with it and post some pics of these on your car already. I'm dying to see what they look like.
