Mercedes E63 AMG Rear Diffuser build

would ruin the look..
So I was thinking what if I build one where I could hide the hitch receiver when not used..
A lot of work in adobe Photoshop and looking at different diffuser designs I came up with a design I was happy with

The were several things I wanted to achieve with the design:
- not to ruin the original bumper
- be able to hide the hitch receiver
- be able to remove center section when I need to use the hitch
- look professional
- look different than what else is available on the marked
- have a design that create a lower look (closer to the ground)
Under the way I had to design and fabricate various moulds. There were a couple of set backs on the way and I ended up with a slightly different design than original draft.

Everything was done in my garage and the project took about 2 month or every evening after work including weekends.
Design new exhaust pipe mounting brackets to lower the rear of the exhaust with about 50mm as a part of the design.
It was painted in Glossy black and covered with 5 layer of Plastic Dip (flat black) to match my wheels.
It fits like a hand in a glove. I can easily remove it again if needed and I would have the original and undamaged bumper underneath.
I have added a photo album under my profile with a lot of pictures where you can see the project from start to end.

I'm very happy with the end result and the fact that this is the only e63 with that look in the world

would probably get some heat here in the forum.. and I know you can't get one in the E series. I'm from Denmark so I know the German cars very well
After all my beauty is Black...
so the badge will probably stay
Not many other enthusiasts than us MB "freaks" and other that fear the raw AMG power know what it means anyway

The project can be seen from start to finish in the photo album I added under my profile. Hope you all can see it.
Otherwise let me know. (new to this forum).
If you have specific questions I'm more than happy to answer them
The cost for the project vent well over the estimated budgeted (as all 0 series normal do
) I would estimate for material alone it probably ended up in $500. Did really not keep track on it as the project lasted a couple of month. Add to that time spend Some of the extra cost came form trial and errors. First time I tried making a fiber glass project.
I considered to wrap an outer layer of Carbon fiber but decided not to as the flat black look match the rest of my car better. Plastic Dip comes in handy here

And to me honest I'm impressed with the Plastic dip. I'm now running my wheels on third season. No sign of pealing yet. If it's done right it last a long time.
In regard to making additional diffusers I gave it some thoughts prior and under the project as I saw there is a quite a limited selection on the marked for the E63 W211. Personal I think most of them do not have the "aggressive look I was after. However I know design and taste will always be individual. So no offense to those that already have a diffuser on their MB

I wanted to post it here to see the response before considering it further.
If there is enough volume and commitment and I decide to make a small series I need to create a negative form from my diffuser to speed up the fabrication process.
Fabricating diffusers for other models I do not have the means of doing as I need the bumper to create the first diffuser. Sorry... this was a garage project and the lack of being able to find better
I could consider a second design without the removable center section based on mine. I can generate a Photoshop picture that would show how it could look like. However I did some trials and that design probably require the slightly angled fins to be fully vertical with a third in the middle ( where the center section is).
However again.... taste is individual
In regard to removing the center section. It's quite easy done ( Put some thoughts and effort in the design
) Just need to remove one screw for each horizontal fin ( can be seen on the pictures) The other end of the fins are hold in place by a matching grove in the center section.
Remove two screw/bushings ( I fabricated those so they have both functions) from the center section.
And off goes the center section / hitch cover. 2 min job
.I can post some extra pictures showing that in details.
Happy to see the overwhelming feedback based on the few days the post has been up and thanks for all the nice words.
Cheers/Poul

Photoshop edited - how it could look if there was no hitch to hide

Here are some pictures that show the center section off.
To mount it. All it's needed is to slide it into the hitch receiver hole. Guided and hold in place by the buildin mounting guides. Locked in place by one Screw/bushing from each side.
That's it.
