engine ordered. what else?

Hi again. Got the engine lined up, now to arrange the work with local dealer or possibly do the swap in my garage.
Was hoping you guys could recommend what else to replace / upgrade or just check while I'm at it. Car is new to me so the more I learn the better. Also think I will put stock pulley back on and have dealer flash it( it is my understanding that this is all I need to go back to stock) just until I make sure everything is 100 percent.
So please pitch in looking for any kind of useful information. Like I said I don't know much myself. Thanks

Dealer get the engine or did you have to pay for it?

Unfortunately, the service manager there is the most unreasonable and nonsense person I ever had to speak to. So it's all on me. I'm still having hard time getting reimbursed for what I paid my dealer here to fix what they screwed up. Originally they had a day to find why engine light came on while they had the car and they could not, sent me the car with CEL on and after my dealer found the hose that they forgot to attach, charged me $775 for fixing it, those guys have the guts to say it should only be an hour of diagnosis. And they will gladly reimburse $144 hahaha.
So yeah it will be pricey. Shardul has an engine for me, he threw in the stock pulley for free, now just get it together and have it run right. Mods will have to wait, but they will come!

Check out the rear main seal, motor mount, CPS, Spark plugs. Just a few things that will be easy to knock out with the motor out.

Rear main seal? Is it a gasket to the transmission? Or something more complicated? And what kind of motor mounts everyone recommends? Not crazy stiff though. Thanks everyone

Def do valve cover gaskets and rear main, motor mounts are standard I believe just typical benz MM. Someone here will know where to get them cheaper. Good luck and hope this all works out for ya...that dealer scum should rot in hell!

This looks familiar.

These engines are actually cheap. In a quick search, there were 17 that pulled up in the Houston area for under $3K

Damn that is cheap, unless they're incomplete, or high mileage older ones or something. I put one from an 06 on craigslist recently for $5500 and it sold in less than a week for $5k

I found about 8 engines all 3500 to 4500 range. Around 100000 miles. I put deposit on one for 4000 with 65000 miles. Now duty and taxes and shipping is gonna make it way more expensive. But I still feel okay about it. Ml 63 at the dealer with a hole in the block got quoted 93000 for brand new engine I think.
So I'm looking into engine mounts for sure( still hoping someone will send me in the right direction as to where to buy) and rear seal for sure.

Rear main seal seals the rear section of the crank behind the trans. It is behind the flex plate. It is a big round seal that needs to tapped in gently with the correct tools.
