We here at SoloMotorsports just love the 3000 stall converter from UPD. We installed 4 of them so far. Great product from UPD. We are authorized dealer for UPD. Let us know if you guys have any questions.

I would like to know what our factory e55 stall is? Also, does this take away from top end speed (i.e. 1/4 mile)? I am assuming that low end torque must be really insane with this so how about traction? Does it become an issue? Thanks

P.S. Just curious, is SL55 SC's the same from the factory? S55? etc.

yea what traction? You will not lose top end speed in 1/4mile. My time slips have shown from the loss of traction I still picked up 1mph under those conditions. Just so you understand I went from dead hooking to spinning and still knocking off almost a tenth in my sixty foot spinning. and knocking off a tenth in the quartermile. Had I had good tires and great prep the results would of been more, I certainly did not go backwards with stall. its reliable and makes the car drive super

I thought the UPD converter was heavy. That was until I lifted the stock one after the install. That's a lot of mass.

Well said…

Headers to eliminate cats and heat, LSD, and 3k stall Tq converter are the definite must have for the E55..

Not pulley and tune first, like many are led to believe you should do first.

Few questions from someone new to stall converters:

1.from reading about it I understand one of it downsides is heat buildup. How does it affect the transmission for the long run? The stock colling system can control it?

2. As my car is daily driven inc' traffic jams etc' will you recommend me install the stall converter or stick to the stock?

3. The stall converter affecting the daily driving comfort or shouldn't be worried of that?

4. Any other downsides should be aware to before installing a stall converter? (Higher wear & tear of transmission? Higher fuel consumption?

For the reference my car has the following mods:
Eurocharged ECU tune+ H/E with Bosch 010 pump.
Probably sometime in the future install a pulley.

Driving style:
Daily driving inc' traffic jams and at least one a week going for SMD with aggressive driving and from time to time also high speed cruising.

^I can drive faster than that. :P

Did you put on headers? I got a nice bump in fuel economy when I did mine.

im on the fence here and about to order one but mostly afraid of the heat buildup.

During normal driving, you should not experience any extra heat. In theory, if you're driving it hard, like doing multiple back to back runs at the drag strip and flashing the converter a lot, you may experience more heat than the stock converter. So far, nobody (to my knowledge) has had any heat issues and several of us have been using ours on the hotter states. I had mine installed in the middle of summer in Arizona (really hot!) and have had no issues with heat. My fluid still looks good and doesn't smell burnt or anything.

Thank goodness that someone finally answered at least one question about these converters! Is everyone a converter dealer? lol If anyone has anything 'bad' or neutral to say about this 3000 stall then please feel free to PM me. Thanks

nomad look at my video especially when cool out you creep into that gas it will light up if that's bad. racing the car will just take more practice and super good tires and prep to hook. daily driver guys it just makes the car 10times better to drive.

thanks for the info.
I do not have any drag strip around, however I do go every sunday morning with friends to some nice roads to have a spirited technical drive (many tight bends).
this kind of driving wont over heat the converter?
what about urban/traffic driving? (I think ive read somewhere it might overheat the stall converter).

anyway, Ive just sent the payment for the 3000 stall converter but I just want to know what to expect.

Me and a friend are trying to convince ourselves so I appreciate all the feedback! Of course, just one of us will try it first, probably 'him'.
Where's the video?

We'll, anyway I'm getting a new OEM converter in few weeks so if I won't like the stall one will just shift back to OEM.
