The article has a link to another article that has pictures of the skid marks.
Looks like it got light over a rise on a slight right hand curve... the back got loose (looks like under power), and he overcorrected to the left and and spun off the road. Smack into a tree.
Ouch.

Exactly... Too little weight
From original article on the actual crash..
Friend driving way too fast for his skill level, luckily they both survived the crash. Appears these Hellcats are built tough too!

Probably one of the most common mistakes made is lacking car control and over correcting. In this case the hill made an off throttle oversteer situation which can be tricky and if it was an unfamiliar road in the dark just plain silly.
That is funny! The best part is that most of us would be more than ready to plunk down like $70k for a 707hp car that weighed like, let's say, 3500lbs! I promise that me and at least 3 of my friends would be first online! So, not only is the weight statement wrong (4200lbs) but makes no sense!

I didn't notice the guy standing behind the drivers door the first few times I looked at that pic, that color is hypnotizing

I wonder if the car was airborne?
Cresting a blind hill....car gets light (or airborne).... by the time the driver lands the road is already turning right and the car is heading into the opposite lane.
Just a guess......

(Be interesting to see the calculated speed he was traveling from skid mark data) Plain & simple he was very aggressively driving a powerful car way out of his skill level. This accident was totally avoidable, driver error..
Most importantly they both survived, but dayummm would I be pissed off if I was the owner riding shotgun as this went down.. Love to of heard the story they cooked up for INS co. & possible wives/family "Where's your new car honey?" Ohh babe you wont believe this, we were just cruising home on the back roads and........... A deer, yeah a deer.... Jumped out of no where, if wasn't for my best buds evasive skills behind wheel we would've killed the deer & definitely died etc etc
