I'd say that's about right.

Normally I'd expect a $100k mass-produced car to lose half its value in 3 years or less.

This 2014 example has high mileage (33K miles) so I'd say that price is about right, maybe slightly high given the mileage. I bet I could find one with half the mileage for not much more money.

And the 2012 TT's are well into the low 60's for very well equipped cars with not a lot of miles.
Not sure the cosmetic changes and awd would be worth the extra $12-15k?

Aw, who cares right now....I love my 55

They need a new camera man. Every single shot was taken with a dirty lens and out of focus. I would have a heart attack if I lost 30 grand in depreciation in one year. Holy cow.

It's crazy how fast these AMG's depreciate. I'm still happy with mine, so let the new ones keep going down and eventually I'll scoop up an awd, tt, and get on with some go fast mods.

E55 and several 928s
With EVEN MORE to go wrong, electrically, I would have to look very close at the CTS-V cars in the same years. Let the depreciation race to the bottom begin...

But just down to looks, the mb wins.

I've been eyeballing the v2 CTS-Vs lately too.... Prices are getting reasonable, but I'm not sure how im going to like the interior and overall fit and finish once I see one in person.

Ongoing maintenance costs should be dramatically better than the E55 though...

Low 60s??

They can be had for mid 50s now, even CPO.

To be fair, 33K is high mileage for a one year old car. Nevertheless, how is a new AMG anything any less of a money pit than our older E55's?

I love the AMG depreciation but still don't like the W212... specially the update version with a lot of chrome finish.

Alot of chrome finishes? Care to elaborate what's more chrome on the face lifted e63s vs the w211?

The w212 biturbo in my eyes is the best looking and factually performing E class yet hands down.

I think some people have slight new car envy and hold on to the notion that they love there car most, since the new ones are out of the question for them to purchase. I don't know anyone or couldn't imagine why someone wouldn't take the newer biturbo E over there w211 at any given second - - Obviously besides the cost.

I'm not a fan of the w212 body style - too angular, too Acura-ish. That said, I'll consider the wagon in a couple of years, although I am bummed that the 3rd row option is no longer a factory option. I know some folks have retrofitted it, but I'll let someone else eat the cost up front.

Plus, only 5k miles more than the car in the op.

Btw, almost every Carfax I've seen on the 63, including this one, always seem to have an awful lot of wheel alignments performed.

Do these cars tear up tires for some reason?
