Well the panorama has a shade, so that should help. It might be the same if you keep the shade closed.

I took delivery of my E500 a month ago. I ordered it without Keyless Go, as I didn't think I'd really want it. Bad decision. Of any option I didn't get ( I got the Premium Package and Appearance Package), that's the one I regret not getting the most. Get it, you'll end up loving it. Sure wish I did....

How can you miss something you never had to begin with??
Did you have keyless go on a previous car??
I have heated seats now, If I go and get a car without heated seats then I would miss them. But I never get into my car and say "man, I wish I didn't have to turn the key to start her up".

So how do you regret it?

I'm not sure you have to experience something to regret a decision which prevented the experience in the first place.

I didn't get the Keyless Go because I considered it a very frivolous option I'd certainly been fine without in the past.
But you know, every time I walk up to my car (which I am completely thrilled with) carrying a load of paperwork or stuff from Home Depot or whatever, and I stand there rummaging around for my key fob, I think, "the difference between $85,000 and $86,000 is relatively minor".
I somewhat 'regret' not having the KG.
Since I could have had it, but chose not to, I now regret the decision in some ways.
I don't think it's very hard to imagine what KG is like even if you've never had it.

As I was waiting for my car to be delivered, I test drove a couple E500's that had the Keyless Go. After those test drives, I really took a liking to the feature. However, I didn't want to wait another few months to re-order my car with the option. I like the option, but not enough to cancel my order and start all over again. It wasn't THAT important to me. It was a "nice to have", but not a deal breaker.

Funny enough, I like most options but can't get myself to like keyless go.

Call me crazy but I really can't stand the look of the keyless go gear shift. I like the elegant wood and leather knob and not the cheap keyless go rubber one. I agree strongly with whoever mentioned about the knob looking too much like a male organ.

Secondly, I like to remotely open the trunk keeping my fingers from the road grime. This means I would have to dig up the key any way, even with keyless go. This kind of defeats the purpose as I do use the trunk a lot. The extra keyless go lock button with the auto trunk closing button is cool though.

And finally, after reading a few initial keyless go bug reports and after having a discussion with a couple MB mechanics, I became more discouraged and decided against it. The sensitivity with other electronics has been an issue and I simply don't want to complicate thing further. I already carry two cell phones, a PDA and I don't want to have to worry about which pocket to put which item..

I'm curious for those with keyless go, if you want to turn off the engine without turning off COMAND say when you're on the phone after a drive, what exactly do you do?

When you shut the engine down the command system stays on unless you hit the Command power button or open the door. Interesting comments about why you don't like KG, though I can't understand why making the connection by pushing a button down instead of the turn of a key results in electrical problems, but time will tell. I do believe most people will find it an enjoyable feature and appreciate the convenience.

Thanks for the clarification Edward!

Question number two hope you don't mind, what buttons do you press if you would like to have the battery to stay full power for a few seconds (with a conventional key, you turn the key half way before starting the car) say, for a few wiper swipes, check engine oil, etc.? Do you press the KG button with the foot NOT on the brakes?

I don't quite understand about the electrical interference either. It has to with with the constant RF signal remitted by the key, apparently. Well, it could well be something MB had already fixed as I don't see any complaints from users online anymore!

One thing I notice about the COMAND CD Track 1 bug is that if you power down COMAND before killing the engine, the Track number displayed will not default to Track 1.

you are correct on the accessory power activation. with the car completely off, press the button w/o the foot on the brake. press it again to go to on w/o engine start (here you can check oil level), and press it a third time, everything will turn off. at any point in the cycle, you can put your feet on the brakes to turn on the car. once the car is on, you don't have to have your foot on the brakes to turn it off. it just needs to be in park.

No solar panels. I'm guessing that a panorama equipped car will have a warmer interior in the hot months and that's why I was looking for the fans in the seats.

Does anyone out there have any view on how much hotter a panaroma roof equipped car is over a "regular" moon roof???
I have the solar panels as well, but my black E55 is cooler after sitting in the 100 degree FL sun than my wifes white escalade. The solar panel has a reflective coating on it. Go up and look at one from the top. It will look silver. I can't say how much hotter the car would be without the solar panel, but I can't imagine it would be too bad. Especially in Canada. What does the temp get up to there 75 degrees?

The fans in the seats don't do much for regular driving. They are good for keeping your lap area from getting sweaty on long drives. It is really not a temperature thing. More that you stay dry than cool.

I've had 3-4 "incidents" with the Command system. The latest was this morning. Had a CD playing when I started the car. Bad static, couldn't change the volume. No problem on radio. I'm starting to keep a record of them. Acts so wacky when it hangs up that I almost need a stupid notebook to write down just what it's doing and exactly what I did to get out of it. I am about to leave phase one-annoyance, to phase two- frustration. Of course, phase three is anger and a trip to the dealership looking for someone to scream at.

My E-55 had 29 miles when it came in as ordered ( 75 day wait ).
The dynamic seats do not seem to be worth the cost. The wife hates it, and you really want to pull g's in turns to get the seats working. They do work, just seem to be an expensive option. At least they work, I have never felt the ventilation in warm weather, so that is another option to forgo.
I love the rear blind, but don't know if a dealer can install.
The two best options I have are the CD player, and the power close trunk.
Hope this helps.
