Turning off Seatbelt Chime - SDS Buddy in Bay Area, CA??
Hey All,
Is there anyone in the Bay Area that has a Star Diagnostic System and knows how to turn off the seatbelt chime? I live in Walnut Creek but can drive around to meet up..
I love wearing my seatbelt but when I, for example, pick up a delivery from the front office of my apartment complex and then drive back to my parking spot immersed in constant beeping, I get slightly annoyed. My car is an '05 so it has the never-ending chime.
I went to a mechanic today and he said his SDS couldn't do it but I've read otherwise. It's gotta be possible.

2000UZJ: pressing up once stops the key chime when getting out too. Thats the one that I want to get coded out.

I once got in a horrible accident on a windy highway around here in the bay area (highway 17 for the bay area people). I would have for sure been killed if it was not for it. I am a believer and do the same.

agregory23: I work at Bishop Ranch so they were on my list. They wouldn't do it.. I got the entry/exit chime turned off by Adolph's Autohaus during lunch today no problem. Just disable Keyless-Go. Oddly this doesn't affect the functionality of the Keyless-Go, just shuts off the chime. The only other place in the area that was down was Autowerks European. Both shops said they'd try whatever I wanted but Adolph's had the earlier appt.
shardul: There was a section I saw today (I was looking over the dude's shoulder the whole time) that let him program which software was on my car (there was like 7 choices, about half 2004 and half 2005). You think I could switch my car to the '04's software then do it? Or there was a section where you can program a country into the car - mine had none programmed, he chose USA and it didn't do anything. But maybe if I try 'Rest of the World?'

At all clusters (mph and km/h) you can turn this signal off at all model years.

I have an early build 05 and the seat belt chime/warning has been removed. Shardul, not questioning your knowledge in any way shape or form!!! Just informing. My father has a late build 05 and speedriven tried but couldn't remove his chime

I hate to say it but I bought it that way. I tried contacting the original owner (I am the 3rd) several times via forums to get the background and ran into dead ends. Privacy laws make it a pain to get any contact info. If I can help let me know.

EDIT: I just looked up Adolphs and Autohaus... love that both of those places are about a mile from my house! Sweet!

Haha yeah they're close. Adolph's Autohaus had the attitude of basically do what you want with Star as long as you don't touch the computer. So if you want to look over his shoulder and ask him to go into certain menus and change things, he will.
