I want that E55 and I want it now. Anyone know if there is a possiblilty or has anyone done it. Gone to the plant in Germany and taken delievery? What is involved with that? Do you then ship the car home yourself?

if you're willing to buy one with some mileage on it, check out ebaymotors.com, there are several listed...
or do a nationwide purchase inquiry on mbusa.com some dealer is bound to have one somewhere...

good luck

You can't fly over to Germany and just buy an E55 and ship it home.
Customs issues and US-specifications (which are different than Euro specs) make the process very complicated...to the point that it's impossible for the amateur car buyer.

Hey don't worry, everytime I smoke a Mustang or 911 I'll post it here and you can live through me!

Just kidding, I know how you feel, the wait is a killer but going here helps a lot. Hang in there.

Not on AMG cars (at least not E55's).
I tried to arrange that 2 years ago.

Dealer tells me April. There is a black E55 on Ebay, with some less options than I ordered. Its tempting not to bid. I think June is longer that April:p And I am being patient

What area are you in? I knew of a Black/Black in Southern California, however you will pay over sticker.

Thanks, but no thanks. Sticker is high enough for this sweet home Alabama boy. Over sticker is a crime against humanity. Someboy oughta been hung.

Yes you can...

You can do euro delivery with an AMG vehicle. Although not offered through the normal program, tell your dealer that you want to pick up your US-spec car at the factory and then ship it a few weeks later. If your dealer won't do it, tell him that it's been done before and you'll find another dealer who will take your 80k. To the dealer it's the same as a local sale and comes out of their allocation, the delivery is just different and they have to do a little legwork to make it happen...

Good luck.

If you go to the MB-USA website and begin the Euro Delivery ordering process, only non-AMG models are listed.
You may be right that dealers can force feed an order for an AMG, but when I checked into this I was given a flat 'no'.

Don't be in such a hurry. I was like you waiting from May until late July's delivery. Well, I wish they would have taken another month and made less mistakes manufacturing this E-55. My car is at the dealer's once a month. The power and ride make it worthwhile but expect this car to act like an exotic. The techs said there are still glitches in a chassis that is a year old . Most of these are the little things that the Asians learned to get right a dozen years ago.Hell, the Brits fixed things quicker on my XJR, and damn few things needed sorting out .

I think the propper way to buy these AMG are to wait two years, buy new or get one with few miles, and has been sorted out. The premium is too high to be first on the block . However , in all fairness I love the damn car for what it does best -scoot. In fact if they offered factory pickup I would do it as the Autobon is where this car should drive everyday. I have even driven it in an A class and loved the ride.
Good luck on your mission, just don't expect faultless performance.

I almost wish I'd waited for a spring time delivery, except that I'm enjoying it so much. Salt and crap on it from the roads here in New York. It's been so dang cold I couldn't even get it washed...till today. That baby's clean and parked in the garage. Sorry to hear of all your problems. So far for me, knock on wood it's only been problems with the Command system.

Euro delivery

I did that last year, made the Black Forrest Rally twice. Then shipped My C32 back. It took about 6 weeks. Benz took great care of us. We are not special. They just do it right! I've many pictures and many post about our trip. GO FOR IT!!!
