0-60 3.6 seconds flat 54 degrees on pilot super sports !

These tires have really impressed the hell out of he in the 5K miles I have driven on them. Still have at least 2-3K left on them. The handing is superb. Wet or dry they just grip like there is no tomorrow. I drive them daily on some insanely twisty roads and they are just so predictable. I had Hankook Ventus Evo before and they pale in comparison. In fact they plain suck in comparison. Best 0-60 on those was 4.6.

Last summer I ran a few 3.85 3.9s 0-60s (V-box) . Was very happy with that. Few days ago I found a better spot to test that is totally flat and can start from exact same spot every time. I also raised the car and had in comfort mode. Seem to always get fastest times with car raised. Traction control off of course.

Ripped a 3.60 flat on second try. Freaking car hooked hard Backed it up with a 3.78 so it wasnt a fluke. I would imagine with warmer temps I could do better maybe a 3.4-3.5. 54 degrees is pretty low for summer tires.

That being said I am ordering some Toyo RA1s for the rear soon hoping for low 3s. R compound. Work well in rain. Handling should be even better that the PSS. Better yet they should hook considerably better than the PSS in warm weather. All the really high HP Vette guys and Gt500 guys (600 WHP +) really like the R888s and RA1s. They say they made a huge difference in keeping tires from spinning in all gears. Also seems lots of them are getting decent miles out of them 6-7K pretty much like the tires I have now. R888s are known for being noisy and getting less sticky without a lot of miles on them. RA1s have 8/32 tread, quiet and have the same stick when corded.

I'm sold

I kinda want to try running a nicely modded 55k on my bike, especially with a 3.x 0-60...

HOLY ****!! That's impressive. I've never really considered 0-60 times when thinking about modded E55s because it sort of becomes irrelevant. 60-130 and 0-120 is figures you hear when it comes to cars with too much power It's nice to see a 0-60 result and that is just amazing period let alone a 4 door family car. The E55 has to be the bargain of the century, I mean it's just too cheap for what it is.

By the way has anyone tried Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires? They're R compound and in the same league as the R888s.

Did you go with 275 or 285 width?

How much did you pay? I drive so few miles that even at 3K mileage they'd last me an entire year

Thanks guys. Yeah I forgot to mention this is with stock 265 width When I get the RA1s I will be getting 275s as they dont make a 265. I could go bigger if I wanted to. My rims are off a CLS AMG and rims are 9.5 inch in the rear I believe. Dont forget this is at 54 degrees outside too. Summer tires are a lot less sticky at those temps. Was warm earlier like around 75 so maybe the cement was still pretty warm. No doubt that with warmer temps my times would be lower.

Certainly doesn't compare to a well prepped track. Pretty sure with 275s and stockier tiores I can start hitting 3.2-3.3 range at will on the street which is pretty cool for a RWD sedan

I drive the hell out of these things on twisty roads and lots of hard launches. 5K miles right now and lots of tread left. 7-8K total is my guess. Better alignment would go higher I think. I paid $1100 installed for all four. did I mention they do fantastic in the rain too ? Havent done 0-60s in the rain but they grip hard on twisty roads at speed in downpours.

You used your Vbox at Atco ? Or did you go by calculators ? I found those calculators are off a good bit compared to what I got on Vbox. Usually showing atleast a few tenths faster than what I really got. Usually by a few tenths atleast.

I didn't clarify I have an SL55 ,I used a V Box At Atco with 0 rollout programmed in which that day basically 4 tenths off if I ran a 10.80 I would see 11.20 on V Box for qtr mile and my 0 to 60 was 3.2 ,so was it really a 2.8 ? That's my data lol

Nice runs. Been thinking about getting a sl65 AMG with tune or maybe the sl55 and mod it up. 295s help for sure. I am betting the 0-60 was accurate. I never had my V-box off by more than a tenth from track times. Makes sense if you staged shallow you had a 1 foot roll out on the track. I have heard some tracks automatically put in 1 ft roll out. Usually adds up to about 3-4 tenths. So yeah with roll out your 0-60 was probably in the 2.9 second range with roll out.

Car & Driver tested a 2004 SL600 w/Renntech tune on Michelin Pilot Cups, on the street they got repeated 3.6 to 60 mph.. A tuned SL600 & SL65 put out virtually the same rwhp but the 65 eeks out another 40+ rwtq w/same ECU tune only.. We're talking 650-700 rwtq on ECU only 600 & 65.. The 65 should hit 3.3 as other similarly powered SL600's w/ECU & Down Pipes = 690- 700 rwtq & members here on the boards have run 3.3 on the street w/proper tires Your E55 is running strong!

Your 0-60 times are legit, I've seen others w/High 10 sec passes use a special calc to deduct 0-60 mph from 1/4 data. All those hi-10 sec passes equaled 2.7-2.8 0-60 mph

Wow I didnt realize the SL600 were so close after a tune. Thought there was a lot bigger difference. Other differences I am sure though. Handling features .... Still torn between the SL Vs a 996 911. Love to have AWD just punch it and go not to mention 911 handling.

I have to agree the PSS are the best. Prices are not bad about 30 more ea than Conti or similar high end brand. The Pirelli's are slightly more usually. The PSS appear to grip pretty darn well down to 40 degrees. Even then grip decent.

I have mine at 41 and 44lbs pressure on stock 63 rims (08 E63) at the suggestion of several members who have posted above. They really do hook well , however I have a wobbling issue with my rear end. Get your head out of the gutters guys!!! Under power in 2nd the rear end wobbles or sways. Its really a weird feeling. Does it in sport 2 or 1, not tried normal. Its probably slight slip of tires with traction control on and when it catches it sways the back end. Might try some non esp runs tomorrow and see what happens.

PSS are rated better than anything else. They run quieter, smoother and even tread wear. Wet traction is excellent. I would like to try the A/S 3 ultra high performance all season tire and see how well they hook. I mean most of us don't go around blitzing 1st and second all the time so the few times I would do it, a slight spin wouldn't hurt in the theory of all season performance. But the Conti DWS actually rates better, just don't know how they hook up.

So I will likely go back to PSS again and be happy per usual. I pride myself if taking care of my cars. How they look, run, sound, and appearance of tires makes a difference. You know when a Merc has General Tires, or Federal tires they are being run on a budget, but one with PSS is not. Gives clues when looking at one for sale too. Anyone looking to buy PSS as long as they don't get snow and temps consistently below 40 they cannot do better. I am sure many on here will agree.
