'08 E63 - Missing Ventilated Seats & Rear Sun Shade
The car I'm looking at is a P2 package car according to the VMI, it even lists the power rear sunshade as an option...yet the center console buttons are MISSING the ventilated seat & rear sunshade buttons 
Has anyone ever seen this? This car gets more and more mysterious the more I find out about it. It has CF trim, but was added after delivery...as well as a DTM steering wheel.

I pulled the datacard from EPC. That VIN does indeed show the car is equipped with ventilated seats and rear window roller sunshade.
Are you certain the pictures are in fact that VIN number? Best bet in an online advert is that a different car is being shown. Think I'd walk at that point, probably they are trying to hide something unpleasant in the history of the actual car.

Do you know if the car physically has the sun shade in the back. My guess would be that he bought a used cd tray cover from a blank model off Ebay or something. I remember replacing mine in my old 500 when my CD unit died and searching for one with the right buttons.

EDIT: Yes the sunshade is installed -- so it must have stopped working, and they replaced the button with a blank. Same with the ventilated seats.
I'm going to have the local MB dealer check it out as well to see what the story is.
Fully agree that sketchy stories rarely end well, and should be avoided.
I'm still hanging in there with it b/c it's ultra clean, under 30k miles and the price might be right.

It does have a full CF interior in it. Maybe when they did the CF conversion they bought used trim panels and had it overlayed. Maybe bought the wrong ones and didn't really care?

I'm pretty sure you can get a CD changer with the full set a of buttons on http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-05-06-07-08-09-MERCEDES-BENZ-E500-E320-E350-E55-CD-CHANGER-HAZARD-BUTTON/121316331601?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28774%26meid%3Ddf5152bf2b5541b48aeb6585cb1ff5af%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D191301950596&rt=nc and test that everything works fine, then swap the switches to your Carbon Fiber trim, that should be a simple bolt off, bolt on job, albeit one involving very small mechanical moving parts.
