Quaife LSD group buy

I want to spread the word that a we are some on the BenzWorld site that are looking to do a group buy for Quaife LSD.

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r230...group-buy.html

If that is something you would be interested in, head over to that thread and put your name in the hat.

On the R230 forum over there. Worth a look. Do we have proof of this unit being something that is configurable in our differential housing?

2003 SL55 / 2002 SLK32
This group buy (from BenzWorld) is finally fully defined it would seem...
I just finished hammering this pricing out with Birdsauto ... and this is arguably the best deal we are going to get on Quaifes...
Not only did they change their catalog price on the QDF28b (Quaife for the 210 E55 and early 2003 211 E55) AND give it a 15% discount in the group buy on top of the new pricing .... They also agreed to give 20% off of the QDFv27b which is used for all E55's starting during model year 2003.

here is the deal ...

This is how it works ... you've no doubt heard about the quality of QUAIFE differentials and how they improve the performance of your car ... and you're probably thinking, "what better time then during a 15% OFF GROUP-BUY to get one?" (and 20% off for their most popular Mercedes Diff the QDF27b !! )
SO... you click on this Link for Birdsauto (the company designated by QUAIFE to define, refine and distribute ALL quaife diffs for Mercedes and Bmw applications)....

Search for Quaife parts | Birds

And ... if your Mercedes is listed there ... then they have it! AND it is eligible for this GROUP-BUY !
then, all you do is click on the "inquiry" button (red circle to right of your listing) and fill in the inquiry form.

When filling it in make sure you include this info:
1) Full name
2)Full Address
3)Email Address
4)Telephone number
5)VIN
LASTLY (and this is important) in the "comments" section (last box on page), Type in "group buy" followed by your member name and the name of the forum (example: Group-buy, Latemodel21 / MbWorld) ... Additionally, in the comments section add the phrase, "please include estimated install labor for this application" if you are looking for a point of reference for getting a local install quote, AND ... feel free to add any questions you may have to the comment section as well (They are willing and able to answer all questions).

Based on your VIN, they (Birds) will be able to provide you with a model number for the Quaife ATB differential that is correct for your car and be able to let you know if there are any special installation notes (eg. if yours is an early model with bolt-on axles, your axle stubs might need a simple modification, etc).

Worth mentioning, ALL Quaife differentials supplied by BIRDS come with OEM Mercedes seals at no extra charge !

Once you get that Quaife model number from them and the calculated group-buy price, you can make an informed decision as to whether you want to participate in the group buy or not. WORTH NOTING: Birds has offered to make this special deal available through April 10, 2015 (giving you plenty of time to decide where you might have it installed, and if the cost justifies the benefit for you). The next step would be to provide a deposit (to demonstrate earnest participation in the group buy) and after 5 deposits are taken , they will start shipping at the 15% off deal (20% off for those getting the QDF27b). Also worth noting, while Birds normally requires a wire transfer for payment, during this group buy they will except payment by credit card (except AMEX)

As to what pricing you might expect ... well, (with the exception of just a few AMGs ... cl65, 210 e500amg, s55, s65, and slk32 that cost £959 or £964) EVERY AMG application I can find in their catalog has a price of £876 (pounds). With the 15% group-buy discount that becomes £744.4 or $1136 plus $67 shipping (to any US address) ... which equals $1204 (20% off on the QDF27b works out to about $1069 plus 67 shipping ... or $1137 total !!) keep in mind that the prices may fluctuate slightly as exchange rates change day to day of course.

If you want to know more about the benefits you should expect by upgrading to a Quaife ATB limited-slip DIff ... check out this Link ....

GOOD NEWS!

I was just notified by James (Bird) that he has received the 5th deposit this morning.

So it is a done deal ... the maximum discount has been secured.

ALL QUAIFES PURCHASED THROUGH THE GROUP BUY (BY APRIL 10, 2015) ARE NOW GUARANTEED THE FULL 15% DISCOUNT (20% FOR QDF27b).

Thanks to everyone involved in this.

Cheers,
Chris

As Devilsfan72 mentioned, they can ship Monday (or whenever you like). The Shipping is Fedex with an estimated 5 days door to door for U.S. addresses (it may vary for other countries).

As you can see from the pics below, they have plenty on hand ready to go.

Cheers,
Chris

those differentials you're talking about are the QDF 9v they are outdated units made for Chrysler applications that also fit in some Mercedes applications. they don't have all the latest improvements for Mercedes applications. if you want to know the difference call Quaife they will tell you .. and they will tell you that birds is their designated seller and are responsible for defining all Mercedes applications and making improvements to the Mercedes differentials

you should call Quaife yourself I'm not really that interested in talking you out of buying a Chrysler differential for your Mercedes if that's what you want you should get it. The ones from birds are for Mercedes and they come with the Mercedes seals but if you want the Chrysler one do it
cheers

i simply asked a question... if they are both "215" diffs, then i am not opposed to buying $20 worth "mercedes seals" to save money...

I know you're just asking ... and your questions aren't unreasonable but if you want a good answer ... just call Quaife USA and ask them. The call is free and if they can't explain the difference to your satisfaction .... then save yourself $80 and buy a Chrysler unit on eBay ...if it' a little noisier because the tolerances are a bit relaxed you probably won't notice ... and even if you do... no worries... you still have that 80 dollars in your pocket. I'm not invested in you participating because we've already got the 5 people we need. If you want to take advantage of the group buy great ... if you don't that's great too.

Group Buy ending ....

The group buy is almost over.

Birds has had 16 members send an inquiry and of those, 8 members have now purchased their Quaife.
I installed mine in my SL55 the week before last ... and am loving it.

There is still time to take advantage of this deal. It technically ends tomorrow the 10th, but James (Bird) told me this morning that anyone who contacts him expressing interest in buying and completes payment before end of Business Monday (5PM London) will still be able to get this special deal.

thanks for everyone's participation.

Cheers,
Chris

I just got a note from James Bird at Birdsauto in Which he asked me to thank everyone for their participation in the group buy and he wanted to mention some new products that they are adding to the very complete list of Mercedes models that they currently have developed quaife differentials for ...

.... he wrote,

"Hi Chris! Hope you're well.

Had a few late participants in the group buy, so we got 11 altogether, which I'm very happy with and grateful to you for. Thanks again for all your efforts Chris.

If you could pass on my thanks to everyone that purchased and/or submitted inquiries, I would really appreciate it. Sales have been steadily increasing over the last 6 months but we sold EIGHTY last month, which is a record for the Mercedes units, and I believe this group buy has certainly played its part in creating more interest. So thank you very much.

If anyone has any questions on anything Quaife Mercedes, they can contact me (James Bird) directly at quaife@birdsauto.com, or our partners in Colorado at Kleeman USA http://www.kleemann.dk/kleemann-usa/.

Lastly, next week we are receiving stock of 2 brand new Quaife LSD units which will fit models such as the 172 SLK55 AMG, 204 C220 CDI, 207 E250 and E300 CGI, 209 CLK280, 209 CLK 350, 218 CLS 300, 231 SL350 and more. Let us know if you're interested!

Thanks again.

Regards, James
quaife@birdsauto.com
james.bird@birdsauto.com

to which I replied,

Thank you, James and everyone at Birds for making a great product like the Quaife differential even better and more accessible buy refining its design and defining its Mercedes applications.
Great working with you too !
Cheers,
Chris

Brian S did a nice one some time back
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...e-install.html

Birds included so good install info with the Diffs.

For my SL55 i found I needed to buy 2 tools that were both the next size up from the largest that is included in standard sets (I needed an E18 and a T60 bit). Other things that are nice to have are a "torque to angle" gauge and transmission jack ... and I probably would have cursed a bit if I didn't have a lift too ...

Cheers,
Chris
