Pinning crank pulley with good keyway?..safe?

has there been any failures on doing this?? I know it has failed with 2 pins after the key way was sheared before hand.

I don't drive my car hard but I want the power if I need/want it. No or little track time.'few pulls in country a month and or road race.

I have considered the sc clutched but I'm looking for more. A pulley is the bread and butter.

I'm thinking an ASP 175 would fit me well. And split cooling.

Please chime in. I'm stock for now

If your keyway is fine you are good to go and pin it, usually guys with bigger than 180 like to pin but for peace of mind , actually any pulley could as long as the keyway is clean and not sheared

I was thinking one pin would be fine. I'm Leary of doing it myself. On ls1 cars have done torque coverters and and a cam change. I think I can do it..

Do the bits with the kit make it pretty easy or is it a long struggle?

Not sure of a legit place here to do the work.

The kit does a good job of it as long as you are careful to not overheat the bit. I tore the entire front end down so I would have a clear view of the crank to make sure it went on perfect.

Pin it. My 180 sheared the keyway. It was a disaster. BIP was able to sand it, sleeve it, pin it, and put a OEM pulley with a crank extension with a new keyway and got it running true. When I say disaster, I mean Jason (the owner) was 80% sure I would need a new motor. He worked on it and became the miracle worker. I wish I had pinned it from the beginning. I run mine pretty hard...

How many miles did you have on it when it sheared your keyway?

My 180 is pinned on a new clean crank and keyway with a BIP kit and 83mm clutched upper. I spun a keyway on a 175 and 77mm fixed with out a pin kit.

Gear change

Anyone know who has the 3.06 gear swap and what the cost is. I can either set the gears up myself or just buy a complete unit and swap it out. What do you guys normally do? Oooops the tune as well will be needed.

BIP sells the gear kit and might as well do an LSD of your choice while you are in there.

Yeah BIP and get it done. They have mine right now and should be finishing today actually. Gears were like 350-400. No idea on install exactly as they are also doing an LSD like mentioned above at the same time.

Can't wait as they are also adding a fixed upper pulley. Goes on the dyno on Monday!!

If you install it correctly there is absolutely no way I could fall our. I would say it's around 48mm just guessing nor that it matters.
