Second opinion on HRE wheels

I got a set of HRE 840R with tires for a really good price I could not pass. The previous owner powder coated the spokes satin black and I'm contemplating on removing the powder coat and polishing it. The previous owner said they were originally aluminum finished I just want second opinion from you guys

I think they look good. Maybe powercoating the lips gloss black but thats the only thing I would do specially with your car being black.

Looks good as is. When you start getting chips/nicks, then would address at that time.

Whatever you do, do not add more black to the wheels. It makes the distinction between wheel and tire disappear.

They are good looking wheels. Although I personnally like the polished aluminum look. You cant go wrong either way.

Removing the powder coating and making the wheel a constant color will look good. A tinted clear also looks good if you don't want to deal with the fully polished look.

I agree, that all black just doesn't look right on a black car.

Its a pretty good finish no chips.. The guy powder coated the wheels then pretty much stored them in garage.

Nice set up! May I ask what size the rims/tires/offset are? Are you lowered?
Thank You

I think the rear are 10in and front are 9in and current tires are michelin PSS 295/30/20 rear and Toyo 245/35/20 front. Im not sure about the offset ... Yes I used STAR lowering.

Not a fan of the black/black either. But I would leave it till you get a few chips or if a wheel ever gets bent. Then do the makeover

The look nice as is.

If you are going to remove the powder, you are in for a lot of work. First, you have to disassemble the wheel, to get the face separate from the barrel and lip. Then, sandblast the existing powder off. Then, you can polish them back out so they are nice and shiny. After that, I'd suggest a clear coat over the polish to save yourself from hand polishing them out every Saturday morning. After the clear is shot, then you can reassemble and reseal them. I would not make this a DIY. Find a reputable wheel shop in your area. I've seen quite a few wheels get a little makeover and then start to leak at the seals between the lip barrel and face... If you need help, I can point you in a few directions. Once its all said and done, you are probably in the $1000-1200 range (just off the top of my head).

The rears are 20x10 and fronts are 20x9. I think offset is 28 and 35 but I'm not that sure about it.
