'08 E63 Navigation Drive replacement...

So just had my '08 with factory Nav into the dealer for its A service...

Had them diagnose why my navigation quit working (no satellite reception)

They spent 3 hours diagnosing the system and pulling codes.

Technician found that my "Navigation Drive" has an electronic fault and needs replacing at the tune of over $1000...

Is it possible to remove and replace my Nav drive with one off ebay?

I have found them for around $200 online used. Will any W211 DVD nav drive work or is there a certain year range that only works with an '08?

If anyone has a part number it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

03-08 Nav drives should all work. Hit up the guy that has part out on these forums his car looks like it had navigation. Ebay ones will work to. No need for coding. I have seen them as low as $130. If you like, PM me your VIN and I can help to confirm part number for you.

It's in the trunk, on the drivers side. It's even mounted to a bracket that rotates out to allow you service it. Simple replacement.

What did you do because mine stop working as well? It's giving a different location on the nav screen.
I checked for corrosion, none seen. Please help

I replaced the whole drive unit because the system could not read the disc, or would not acknowledge the presence of a dvd disc.
If you get an incorrect location, I'd think that your problem is different

Yeah when I initially had the issue I researched it and figured it was corroded connectors on the signal splitter in the trunk.

(my symptoms were car location showing some random place 50 miles from actual location, and zero satellite reception on bottom of screen)

When I had it in the dealer for its service I asked them to look into that... the tech spent 3.4 hours diagnosing it he tried a new antenna, cleaned up the connections and nothing. They happened to have a new drive in stock so he plugged it in and bam it worked perfect. Im just not willing to pay $1100 for a new drive... so hopefully I can snag one on ebay for a couple hundred that works!

The tech also pulled the codes with their diagnostic computer and it gave an error for nav drive too...

Does anyone have a good DIY for replacing the nav drive? Like how to remove the trunk panel without breaking/ destroying it!? I took a look and saw a couple of clips and screws but couldnt figure out how it comes apart...
