2021 Huracan Evo Spyder
S classes have more technologies and uses better materials than the E class overall. It may fit better for taller drivers as well, but that's more subjective.

It's a nice car. Loved it. I just don't think I can keep up with the maintenance cost. I will get one eventually but my next venture is a bi turbo E63

Drove an 06 S65 and yes it was fast but thats about it. Its huge, starting to show it age real bad especially the interior and overall just a very big car with a lot of power. No real feel for anything. It is pretty comfortable I must say. E55/E63 IMO is a perfect all-around car with the right size, not too big to feel lost in it and not too small like a C55/C63. Anyone else have the same experience? I almost feel like that car is pointless actually, why do you need a huge car with that much power? Its kind of a like an M5 being the perfect all-around car with just the right size. Don't get me wrong, a regular S500/S550 is perfectly fine, big, comfortable, reliable (for the most part), fairly good price, not slow by any means... etc, but why would someone spend double/triple for essentially the same car with a lot more power? IMO, its a pretty stupid car.
The other problem is the ABC system in that car, going all the way back to when I owned my 500 SEL Mercedes with no springs (only hydraulic struts) is completely unreliable. The mechanical design on the original 500 SEL euro was terrific. The newer ABC system just breaks, and is hideously expensive to repair. If you think airmatic is bad, ABC just makes you LOVE having air.
So I would never own one. The 55 series engine from Mclaren is just lovely with a proper euro tune, and no mods. My CLS blows the doors off my friends CL600 (which is faster 0-60 than a CL65).

The 55 series motor was based on the SLR.
Considering Mercedes failure to design decent engines (namely their 6.3 v8, and now their new 5.5L bi turbo), I give McLaren more credit for the Supercharged V8 / 3 valve design than I do Mercedes. In the same thought, McLaren was responsible for Bosch designing the electrohydraulic braking system that Mercedes cancelled the contract on in 07.
Just like anyone who says Ferrari knows how to design a motor would first have to defend their inability to cast a crankshaft that doesn't break in their bread and butter V8 design.
Mercedes used to be exceptional, particularly at how unbreakable their transmissions were --- but that stopped at the 722.643. Their 7 speed designs are all inherently garbage.

65 Chevelle Wagon w/ C5 frame, 08 ML63, 04 S600, 04 E55,(sold) 00 ML55,(sold) 98 C43-55K Swap
After '06 the S65 or S600 (which is practically the same) is really a very, very nice car. I've driven an S65/S600, and an SL65 in varying years, but I would never own one. The largest concern with these cars is that the turbos are a severe detriment from the amount of heat they generate, and they simply don't deliver any better performance over the CLS55 (which is what I was comparing them to) from zero to seventy mph. Above 80mph through 150mph is where this car shines, since it just has massive amounts of power when the turbos are running at that speed. Basically, an autobahn car only when compared to a S55/S63 AMG.

Interesting. Mclaren has nothing to do with the 55k engine or SBC brakes. You realize these were out in my2003 and the SLR wasn't out till my2005? The 3 valve design was started with the m112/m113 engine way back in 1998 and by the time the SLR got that "type" of engine m155 the other production cars were already phasing that 3 valve engine out for the new m272/m273. And I'd also like to know whats wrong with the m157 engine.
The M156 has, among other things, defective camshafts. There was a class action on this if memory serves, but whether it went anywhere I can't remember. In the same manner as the fuel class action didn't go anywhere, it doesn't mean it isn't accurate.
Their new motors aren't any better. Just as the the Ferrari F136 engines break crankshafts, Mercedes hasn't designed a decent engine since the M113, nor a decent transmission since the 722.643.

So because in 1999 there was a concept car with a picture of a supercharger on it means the 3 valve design and m113k engine was designed by mclaren? And everyone knows the m156 engine had a lot of troubles but what is wrong with the m157?
