with the flange the y pipe and air boxes are post back toward the firewall by the thickness of the flange which sometimes will result in air boxes not being fastened to the original mounting points on the valve coves
Ok, do the bolt holes have to be moved on a 74mm snout to accommodate the 82mm TB? I was always wondering if the 74mm had enough material to bore out 8mm additional. I sure do like the idea of not having to run/weld an additional flange, so this seems like the way to go. What else ahs to be modified with the 74mm besides boring it out to 82mm?Originally Posted by shardul
cost. unless you would like to say 400 plus for the 80 snout and what ever the flanges go for these days.with the flange the y pipe and air boxes are post back toward the firewall by the thickness of the flange which sometimes will result in air boxes not being fastened to the original mounting points on the valve coves

MBWorld Fanatic!
For the stock plenum you will need to cut off and bore to 82mm then find a plate to weld onto the plenum to screw into the 82mm tb
The sl55 plenum will be 80mm
The sl55 plenum will be 80mm

you can port match the 74mm inlet to the 82mm and then add material on the top to mate it to the OEM MB 82mmOriginally Posted by ghlainez
Hulk, if you just port the stock pletnum why would you need a spacer?
like this. cleanest and most cost efficient way to mate a 82mm to a factory inlet

In the pic you can see the bottom mounting position is OEM (74mm inlet)

Have the snout bored to match the 82mm and if needed add material to the snout so that the screw holes can be relocated so that the 82mm can bolt up to it.
