Question 80mm or 82mm?

Question...?

Is this (1131410125) part number for a 80mm or 82mm throttle body?

hammer down, would you happen to know a ball park estimate of how much does a 550 V8 throttle body with welded adapter on the stock snout cost with whatever else needed?

74mm throttle body is really small for a 5.4L V8 Kompressor. I think a 82mm and tune should add a nice amount of power. Without touching the boost level. Would you agree?

Hey Max what's up stranger? I cringed when you said welded tb plate. You can pick up a snout and have it bored to 82mm and then extra material added to so that you can relocate the mounting holes. I paid $300 to have my snout bored and extra material added and about $325 for a brand new snout but unless you have MB hook up I would suggest buying a used 550 tb for around $400 or so. You can get a brand new GT3 82mm $300 but you have to switch two of the pins due to the blade opening in the opposite direction (any competent MB tech can do it) if you choose not to.

Ohh sorry buddy that's my mistake. I think you need to weld the plate for 90mm throttle body. So, if I pickup a 550 throttle body I can bore out and weld my stock snout. Obviously would need a tune right?

Correct on boring of your stock snout and on the retune. Since you would have to take the SC off go ahead and add phenolic spacers and a heat shield in the valley between your block and SC intercooler. DEI makes a heat shield

you also need the y pipe that goes from the 2 air cleaners into the TB from an 07 or 08 SL.

This is the first I've heard of the DEI heat shield. Link?

Also, I thought I had read on here that phenolic spacers were about as effective as an intake Tornado. Something about the air moving too quickly to absorb much heat.

It's actually from Jegs. I only bought one to put in the valley and I wish I'd bought two.

you can use a 80mm inlet with a flange to bolt on a 82mm TB.

Right way is to modify a stock inlet without the use of a flange to mate it to a 82mm TB

youre saying its better to bore out the 74mm stock inlet vs starting with the 80/82mm blower inlet? Can you explain why? Thank you. All this time, I have been looking for a larger s/c inlet to do this mod...

also, if the TB is for any other model 550 other than the E, lets say an s550 for example, are there any differences? P/n is the same so I figured its identical, just wanted to ask. Thank you.

You need to find a 82mm Benz tb, try the S550, for the snout you can port the stock plenum and after weld a plate to attach to the 82mm tb

OR

You can get the 80mm plenum and add screw holes to mate the 82mm without any adapter plate, it's a cleaner install.

cost. unless you would like to say 400 plus for the 80 snout and what ever the flanges go for these days.
with the flange the y pipe and air boxes are post back toward the firewall by the thickness of the flange which sometimes will result in air boxes not being fastened to the original mounting points on the valve coves

You will need to weld a plate to attach the 82mm tb
