Looking at a 2004 E55. What do I need to look for?
Hey guys,
Stepping up from the C32 to an E55. I have found one that has caught my eye. It is a 2004. Just under 100k miles and it looks pretty clean from what I have seen in the pictures.
I know that the W211 has the issues with the airmatic suspension. Car has been lowered and there is a suspension warning on the dash which I believe it is that but it could be more involved.
I know that they also have the SBC pump issues. Is there any way to test this or is it pretty much it fails when it fails part?
I have seen the issue with the fuel leak as well and the fuel pump connector melting.
What other things should i look for? I am familiar with the SC setup and listening for odd noises there with owning the C32 for years.
I am going to try and inspect the car ( listen to it, drive it etc) in a few days so I want to get a list of things to look for and check on since I am not as familiar with the W211 as I was the W203.
Thanks,
Andrew

MJ50, thank you!
I have already looked at coil overs and have a set I am looking at buying if I do get this E55.
The SBC was something that I figured was that way. That's good to know about the fuel leak and it being covered.
I will be very thorough in my inspection.

with a star tool you can see how close the SBC is to the end of its service life. Part is $900 when it needs replaced.

oil leak. less option is always good .. I got a loaded one and always fixing ****. pano roof makes noises.
I would get one with less miles tho .. so many things break on these..btw sbc has a 10 yr warranty so if 06 still got 1 yr left.
don't forget cls55 is always nice too.

The one I was looking at got sold. I couldnt get the guy to contact me back about a time that worked for him for me to drive down and see it.
So the search continues. Looking at one on ebay right now that is low mileage. If I dont get this one I will hold off on the search for a few weeks while I relocate for work. Been in Texas for a work project and just got informed I am needed in Pennsylvania for the remainder of the year. Who knows, might find one up there.
I greatly appreciate all the input guys!
