Heads up gents: CLS55 in Carmax
I'm sure you guys have stumbled across Doug Demuro's articles about carmax and their gold standard warranties. I paid just $2800 (4 years/60,000 miles) for mine and its paid for itself 3x over already.
They'll also cover things that aren't in the warranty either if you catch it within the first 30 days of purchase (they covered my p030 brake rotors and pads just because I made a fuss).
The motivation of buying a car here is obviously not for the initial cost savings, it's to utilize a warranty on a 11 year old vehicle which parts are obviously wearing out and that your modifications can potentially can cause major failure. I've been down that road enough times to where I'd rather have the peace of mind to have another entity pay for it.
They have the consumer so freakin' fooled. Its amazing how their business model works in the industry that is completely built its reputation on negotiation.

So far they've paid in just over $10k in warranty claims (including the $2500 brake job in the beginning)
With your quote, it unfortunately looks like the fun is at an end. The only reason to buy from carmax was that amazingly cheap awesome warranty but alas it looks like they caught on.

The AMG's of our vintage can no longer qualify to be CPO'd however and now most aftermarket warranties no longer want anything to do with these cars. The ones that are still in the game are either over-priced or have questionable reputations at best. Spec out a reputable exclusionary warranty for these cars and you'll find most to be around 7-10k.
Things just have to align properly; priced competitively, low mileage, single owner, semi-exotic (AMG, m5/m6, etc) cars with questionable reputations and a future owner who will probably drive and modify the sh*t out of it that doesn't want to be financially liable for WHEN things break

Actually forget about AMG's, check out this m5 thread ($25,000 in warranty claims
