WHY IS THERE A HOLE IN MY HOOD?!?!
So this morning I decide to take out the AMG for a couple errands while my other car is getting some paintwork finished up at the collision shop. I get to my final destination and there is a hole in my hood!
The supercharger pulley doesn't seem to be missing much material but maybe some of the pulley through itself into the coolant hose bracket and then through the hood? Anyone have any ideas?

Something let go. I am guessing one of the rivets or straps broke clean and went through the hood. Remove the SC belt and inspect the SC pulley.
Edit: You can see the strap that is missing. You took a picture of the rivet that is loose. How long has the pulley been on the car?

I've seen this happen (hole in hood) on V6 AMGs, but this is the first V8 AMG I've seen it on. If you look in your second picture, you should be able to see that the rivet that secures one of the 3 springs ("dog-bones" ) is no longer fully engaged. I suspect you will find that the spring launched out.
Very sorry to see that this had happened to your beautiful car.
This is exactly why I created the scattershields for the AMG55 motors (after creating one for the AMGv6 motors).

I realize that it is a little late now, but you may want to hit me up for one after you get your hood repaired (and replace your pulley).

Not sure I cant see any sort of writing on the pulley!

I am only seeing a 150mm 170mm and a 180mm.

I really want to get the same size I had before to skip the whole re-dyno tune step. Its a huge pain in the butt to bring the car all the way to the tuners.

this carnage happens when the plastic gommets on the s/c pulley falls off ... the springs twist and crack with time when the s/c engage... that why i ''melt weld '' the gommets on mine to make sure they dont fall off

No the fsp will not break like these. Welding will not fix this. This happens usually because there's a bigger gap than should be and the springs eventually let go. Also this is a common problem with version 1 pulleys because the springs were thin and broke easily, version 2 pulley springs are much better and should last, but watch that gap, it should not be excessive

UPDATE:
Shardul is rushing me a high quality replacement to the junk one that was installed before I purchased the car. Thanks for the help everyone! I am also dropping off the car this morning for the body repairs!

I just had it tuned at Eurocharged Canada and they said they didn't think it needed belts. Do you think it could have been the pulley shrapnel hitting the hoses in the engine bay making the dust? There is a nice gouge out of one of the hose in the photo. While its all apart I guess I might as well through a new one in anyways. Where can I get a new one on the cheap and quickly?
