4 700 mile days in (apple55's) a Brabus E55 K8

So we found ourselves needing to get from near Seattle, to see family in Bismarck. Last time we did this it was in our 36' road castle, by way of Yellowstone and such and taking our sweet time. But this trip had time constraints. So what's airfare for 3 from here? Ah. it costs OMG. Hmmm, what car to take... the Mazda? Wife's C300? Get real. So load up everything we need, blast out, hang loose, and blast back. Well I'm here to tell you that I simply cannot imagine a better car than this for the job. We were comfortable, safe, and maintained the sort of averages that most cars can't pull off. Friggin fantastic. Doorknobs in the passing lane? No problem. Pass the triple trailers? EZ. Put some distance between you and the fast n furious moron wannabe? Done. The only issue we had was a RR blowout. May have hit something, may have just been time. Front tires were visibly in better shape than the rears when I bought the car, and I thought about changing them before we left but there was plenty of tread depth and the build date code was recent enough, so thought they'd hold out. FYI, these cars can handle an 85mph rear blow with utter stability. A non issue to get to the shoulder, and the bead was kind enough to stay intact and save the wheel. Cost me a couple hours and a pair of new rears which were gonna get replaced soon enough anyhow.
So I had to wash what seemed like 50 lbs bug guts off a sort-of rare supercar. I bought it to drive it. Another tip is that Turtle Wax ice synthetic stuff? It works really, really well. I used to use Zymol but this blue goop is ever so much easier to work with and dirt prettymuch falls off. 2 thumbs up. The car's all clean again and I just need to detail the interior some. I suspect we'll have to do this drive again sometime and there'll be no question as to what car to take.

It's amazing road car, but yes they do like to eat tires. I was lucky enough to caught mine at the hotel parking lot instead on the side of the road.

Couldn't have summed it better. It's my favorite car to put on the road. Driving from Atl to Cali this weekend with it for the exact same reasons.

On my second 1000+ mile road trip of the month. The only way to fly! The 115 degree weather in Vegas this last week about finished my tires. What to do? Stop by the TireRacks Mccarran, Nevada warehouse and pick up a new set of SuperSports and hit the road again! Oil change and detail when I get home.....

I knew the car would be fantastic before it arrived here, having driven a buddy's modded E55 enough to decide "that'll do nicely", but I am still kind of in shock.. a lifelong light car, manual trans is the only way to fly sort, finding this much fun in driving again with a 2 ton automagic Tessie, but there it is. The car feels like it's on my side, and not a codependent *****. The only time I think we're at odds is when I ask for some Go and it says "Is that all ya got? Come on man, if ya wanna go to jail let's do this RIGHT"
Yeah, it's rough on consumables. I'll deal. Pads aren't all that much more than I'm used to and rotors on hats makes for pretty inexpensive rotors. Tires hurt some but not too bad. Spending more dollars is OK if you're getting more fun out of em, and the dollars-to-fun ratio is off the charts. Maybe some day the effects will wear off but I don't know.. we don't call this stuff "AMG crack" for nuthin!

Best quote on here and very accurate for these cars.
