Should I change my transmission conductor plate?

So I am changing my trans fluid and filter and was wondering if I should change the conductor plate while I'm there.
Thought that I read some folks saw an improvement when they swapped it, but can't see to find anything in detail.

Who's done it?
What were the results?

Here is a link to the part:

Thanks guys!!!

My conductor plate went bad about 6 months ago... change it and don't feel any different. But for $130 worth to change it now since you are doing tranny service.

Wouldn't hurt to change it, Worth. When a part on mine went bad the transmission went into limp mode; fortunately I wasn't too far from home.

Quite honestly, 99% of the time when they go "bad" it's usally just metal particles stuck to the magnetic speed sensors. Normal metal from the clutches wearing. The metal affects how they read. I've had good luck just removing it and cleaning the speed sensors and gear selector range sensor. My 2000 ml 55 that I used to own would go in to limp mode almost daily when I bought it. It had 200,000 miles. I said f it, I'll try cleaning it. I drove it for another 25,000 mi (some towing a trailer) and it never went in to limp mode again. Since that, I've done it on other cars with good luck. Obviously if your having a problem with it and you have it apart, it's ideal to replace it. But if your doing a trans service, it couldn't hurt to clean it. Just remember to change the trans connector.

That makes sense C43, if I recall the code I received pertained to a speed sensor. I wish you were around back then to give that advice. I would have tried cleaning it first

there is not a trans light indicator. do you have a check engine light on with a fault code for the transmission?

Yes. The M.E. (motor electronics) will have a code stating a fault in the trans control module. In the trans control module there will be codes for the speed sensors.

I don't mean an actual transmission light on the cluster, I mean the little red light on the actual shifter where it displays PRND. no check engine lights but when the car is hooked up on STAR, it displays a transmission fault code

That's the star das code. It should say something about speed sensor if it's the conductor plate.

that doesnt mean the conductor plate is bad. it means you need the control unit and it may have transmission fluid in it that seeped through the wiring harness. ive also seen the code present many times with no issues.

Oh ok so I shouldn't even bother changing out the conductor plate then? I already bought it so I might as well return it then, I pulled the tcu to check for oil and it's nice and dry. I understand you're saying You've seen the code present with no issues but little red lights don't light up on the gear selector shifter assembly
