Be carefulwith Mobil 1 oil filters
I had a little birdy tell me to look at my Mobil 1 oil filter for my GL450.
Yes I know this is NOT that section, but you nuts are the most active.
Anyway, he was right. The following picture is after only 3000 miles.
As you can see it had already collapsed. I forward this to mobil 1 and have not heard a reply now in over two months.
Long story short, use at your own risk my friends.
Ps: This was there special long life filter to boot, LOL

This place is a joke.
Do NOT use any filters on ANY Mercedes other than the OEM or MANN equivalent. Period. I've seen countless damaged engines (especially the last few years) from someone trying to save $10 on a filter.

In fact, it was the MOST expensive filter I have found for the MB's.
PS: I usually buy the Mann's at rockauto, but I was in a pinch, aka leaving soon for vacation when I tried that garbage.

You would of been better off not doing the oil change (before the trip) than using that garbage. The good thing is that you hopefully found it before any damage has been done and now you know. I've seen aftermarket filters liitterly crumble apart and the oil pump pushes pieces of the filter through the engine.
Fyi. If your in a pinch. I "think" the Napa golds for mb's are manns. You would need to open the box to check though.

I found this with K@N filters as well. I also in my investigation for as long as I have had the car have been dealing with the oil pump whine with some results. The most dramatic was removing the filter completely after the K@N sucked itself in. I started the car and low and behold....no more whine. So I have determined that that whine on cold start up is the pump cavitating on the suction side. To bad they do not make a racing high flow stainless filter for it because I would love to try one out.

Do not use ANY NAPA filters
There Gold for my S600 was almost a 1/2" too short. After I showed them the difference, they said they couldn't get the right one after three attempts.
Note: They still list the bad part number for the V-12's, LOL

That may be true for the m275 but I think the 112/113/272/273 filter is a repackaged Mann. It was either the Napa filter or carquest. The filter was stamped Mann hu718/5x or whatever the Mann part number is. I only use mb packaged filters though.

On my girlfriends Corolla I've been using Bosch distance plus filters. From what research I did on spin on's they seem to be the best, but who knows
