If only it looked better, that front looks like a Hyundai, Honda, Kia etc. It just doesn't look luxurious. When you see an E63, it look EXPENSIVE. This thing does not have a menacing look which I find insanely stupid. They go to all that trouble to make a great car then the cheapest part, the part that doesn't cost them extra, making it looking better, they fail in. I don't get it, do good looks cost more to make?
Thats funny because myself and everyone I know thinks they look almost like an exotic. They look a lot like a Maserati. That has been a huge help in its sales as well. Look at all the other all electric options out there. No comparison. Killer performance but $120K is damn pricey. Yes it can run a 10.9 but a stock 12 year old E55 would be dead even from a roll if not faster. I know the regular P85D only traps in the 114 MPH range.

Not sure what Maserati you're looking at but if someone is trying to sell it to you say no, it's a rebadged Hyundai.
This is a Maserati....
This is the Tesla.....
Really not sure how they're similar, the Maserati is CLEARLY an exotic car. The Tesla is something I'd miss as a big Mazda if I saw one.
As an engineer, I really appreciate and respect Teslas. That said, they're literally a dime a dozen here in Silicon Valley. Many high tech companies (like my employer) offer free charging of EV vehicles. EVs are chic around here and are bought most likey because it's the trendy thing to do. I irk a couple of my colleagues (cuz we don't call them coworkers around here) when I tell them my commuter vehicle is the most efficient one there is. They ask what it is so they can buy one. They get real disappointed when I tell them it's a bicycle .
I'll stick with my rwd 6.2l wagon thank you very much - it has way more character. My wife tells me that every time she picks up the kids from school a lot of the dads stare at it. Well, hopefully it's the AMG and not my wife.
Some people hate on the fact that they are trendy or boring but tesla is playing it safe. They are trying to make a "desirable" electric car for the masses. Tesla is the highest volume electric car sold in the US and they are offering a car that can go 0-60 in 2.9. It's working. They are working on a even faster one that will have "plad mode"! Not kidding, tesla is using Spaceballs references

This is so true, a car has to have character otherwise I won't drive it. The 6.2l is nothing but character, it has a soul and a personality. It sounds like thunder, sounds like "the boss is coming"
I actually like electric cars, I like the concept and I like the practical application that the Tesla has achieved and how fast it is but the looks are generic and boring. It's just not distinctive and sexy. The sad part is looks are the cheapest part to make, it's just good design, it's not like ugly designs are cheaper

The performance is limited to getting you off the mark quick - after 400 meters any real super/sports car is going to leave the Tesla in it's wake, and that is reflected in the Tesla's low trap speed. Still great traction and clever gearing utilizing the torque afforded from the electric motor.
I don't like the sound of that... best we keep quiet about it...
It's funny. I call the guy with the Tesla "The Ghost".
I was walking to my car one day and he just crept up behind me. Couldn't hear it, but I could kind of feel it's presence behind me. Just a tiny bit of tire noise gave it away.

Spooky... the ghost of Tesla ... an energetic presence - clean energy of course.
I do like the Tesla and for sure would take one if i won it on the Price is Right....But I just can't get over the absence of a nice V8 sound.
There is simply NOTHING like a beefy V8 rumble and roar, it makes you drive with your chest pumped and a mean demeanor, it feels like POWER!! There is an authority about a V8 that no other engine or drivetrain can possess. It's the only car sound that is genuinely intimidating. You don't admire a V8, you fear it and if you're in it, you put fear in others
